Spurs' Tobias Harris: Won't be rushed to return
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said they will not rush Harris (calf) back to the court, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
"It's a calf strain, the seriousness is what it is," said Johnson. "We won't rush him at all. I guess the question will be is he ready for the season opener? Totally questionable and we will not push that at all. So, we'll take it slow. There is no concern of this level of seriousness, and at the same time, we will not rush him at all." It sounds like Harris, who has already been ruled out for the preseason, is in danger of missing opening night. His absence will open up minutes for Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes.

Spurs' Tobias Harris: Dealing with calf injury
Harris will not play in the preseason due to a left calf strain, Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reports.
Harris sustained the injury to his calf during training camp and will be reevaluated after the preseason. The 34-year-old pro signed a two-year contract with the Spurs this offseason. He should be considered questionable for the regular-season opener on October 20.

Spurs' Tobias Harris: Signing with Spurs
Harris agreed to a two-year, $31 million deal with the Spurs on Wednesday, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Harris was a key component of Detroit's turnaround in recent years, and he's now heading to San Antonio to provide veteran leadership for a young Spurs squad. The 33-year-old forward should play significant minutes for his new team and could push Julian Champagnie for a starting spot, but Harris' usage is likely to take a big hit in a first unit loaded with playmakers. Harris averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals per tilt in 63 regular-season games in 2025-26.

Pistons' Tobias Harris: Passive end to season
Harris recorded five points (0-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 23 minutes during Sunday's 125-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Harris turned in his worst performance of the postseason, scoring under seven points for the second straight game. While it was certainly not the way he wanted the season to end, his production for the majority of the playoffs was exemplary. Over 14 appearances, he averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.4 three-pointers and 2.3 combined steals and blocks.
