  • Jahlil Okafor: Parts ways with Atlanta

Okafor was waived by Atlanta on Monday, Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Okafor landed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hawks in mid-September but won't remain with the club to begin the regular season. The 25-year-old averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per game across 27 appearances with the Pistons last year.

  • Hawks' Jahlil Okafor: Signs camp deal with Atlanta

Okafor signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hawks on Thursday, Shams Charania of The AThletic reports. The veteran big man spent last season in Detroit, where he appeared in just 27 games and averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds. The 2015 No. 3 overall pick did not receive much interest in free agency, but he'll latch on with Atlanta and attempt to make enough of an impact to eventually convert his deal to a fully guaranteed contract. Early in the season, Okafor figures to provide depth at center while Onyeka Okongwu (shoulder) recovers from offseason surgery.

  • Jahlil Okafor: Waived by Brooklyn

Okafor was waived by the Nets on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Unsurprisingly, the Nets let Okafor go, as the team has plenty of depth at center. The former No. 3 overall pick from 2015 continues to bounce around the league, and wherever he lands next will be his fifth franchise. For his career, he's averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 19.5 minutes.

  • Nets' Jahlil Okafor: Traded to Brooklyn

Okafor -- along with Sekou Doumbouya -- was traded to Brooklyn on Friday for DeAndre Jordan, four future second-round picks and $5.78 million, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Okafor posted a career-low 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Pistons last season. It's unclear what the Nets will elect to do with Okafor as they likely were only making this move to move on from Jordan's contract.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: To start Friday

Okafor will start Friday's contest against the Nuggets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. With both Mason Plumlee (rest) and Isaiah Stewart (personal) out, Okafor will make his first start of the season. In the 11 games this season that Okafor has seen at least 15 minutes, he's averaged 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Rejoins rotation

Okafor posted 12 points (5-5 FG, 2-2 FT) and four rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Pistons' 102-99 loss to the Hornets. Okafor was inactive for the Pistons' previous two games with a "not with team" designation, but he returned to action Monday. Detroit was resting Mason Plumlee for the third game in a row, which allowed Okafor to step into the rotation as the backup center behind Isaiah Stewart. If Plumlee is cleared to play Thursday against the Grizzlies, Okafor may not get minutes in a competitive game.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Not listed on injury report

Okafor is not on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's game against Charlotte. A personal matter kept Okafor away from the team for the last two games, but it looks like he'll be back to active status Tuesday night. With Mason Plumlee resting for the fourth straight game, Okafor should be in line for some reserve minutes behind projected starter Isaiah Stewart.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Remains away from team

Okafor (not with team) will not play Monday against the Magic. It's unclear what's going on with Okafor, but he's not currently with the team, and he'll likely miss at least two more games as Detroit heads into a back-to-back set.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Not with team Saturday

Okafor is not with the team ahead of Saturday's game against the Hornets. It's not clear why Okafor is away from the team, but it's possible he was told he wouldn't be playing in Charlotte. He mostly sees minutes when Mason Plumlee (rest) is ruled out. Plumlee isn't playing Saturday, so Tyler Cook could see backup center minutes behind Isaiah Stewart.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Productive off bench in return

Okafor (knee) tallied 11 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes off the bench Thursday in the Pistons' 113-101 win over the Kings. Back in action after missing more than three months following surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee, Okafor entered the rotation as the backup center behind Isaiah Stewart. While Okafor turned in a credible showing in his return from the lengthy layoff, he may struggle to find minutes once Mason Plumlee (concussion) is cleared to play again.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Cleared to play

Okafor (knee) is available for Thursday's game against the Kings. Okafor was listed as questionable for Thursday's game, but he'll be good to go. This will mark Okafor's first action since January, so the Pistons could realistically have a cap on his minutes.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Questionable Thursday

Okafor (knee) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Kings. The team recently indicated the 25-year-old didn't have a timeline for his return, but he could be back on the court Thursday. Okafor has been unavailable since late January due to surgery for a meniscus injury in his left knee.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Remains without timetable

Okafor (knee) remains out for Tuesday's game against Denver. Okafor hasn't played since late January after undergoing knee surgery. As of last week, it sounded as though he could return to game action any time, but the Pistons haven't said much about his status since.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Remains sidelined

Okafor (knee) is listed as out for Monday's game against the Thunder. Okafor has been sidelined since Jan. 30 with a meniscus injury that ultimately required surgery in February, but he appears to have advanced to the day-to-day stage of his recovery after he resumed practicing last week. Once cleared to play, Okafor likely won't be an every-night member of the rotation with both Mason Plumlee and Isaiah Stewart ahead of him in the pecking order at center.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Out Saturday

Okafor (knee) is out for Saturday's game against the Knicks. Okafor is on the verge of a return from left knee surgery, but it won't be Saturday. His next chance to play is Monday against the Thunder.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Spotted getting shots up

Okafor (knee) was on the court shooting prior to Monday's game against the Spurs, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Okafor has been sidelined for the last month after undergoing surgery on his left knee, but he looked to be moving well Monday evening. Detroit's initial timetable for the big man was 6-to-8 weeks, so while nothing is definite yet, a return could be in play sometime over the next few weeks.

  • Pistons' Jahlil Okafor: Undergoes meniscus surgery

Okafor will be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks after undergoing surgery to clean the lateral meniscus in his left knee Tuesday, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports. Okafor hasn't seen the court since Jan. 30 due to the knee injury, and he'll now be sidelined until at least the second half of March. Mason Plumlee and Isaiah Stewart are the top options at center for Detroit.
