  • Dwayne Bacon: Let go by Lakers

Bacon was waived by the Lakers on Saturday, Ryan Ward of reports. Bacon got run in two preseason games -- he posted 5.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 17.4 minutes per game -- but didn't impress enough to earn a roster spot. He played overseas last season, and that seems like his destiny for this year.

  • Lakers' Dwayne Bacon: Joins Lakers

Bacon agreed to a contract with the Lakers on Monday, Keith Smith of reports. After spending last season with AS Monaco of the EuroLeague, Bacon will get a chance to make his return to the NBA in Los Angeles. The 2017 second-round pick has career averages of 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists across four seasons with both the Hornets and Magic. Even if he wins out in his battle for a roster spot, Bacon is unlikely to be a regular member of head coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

  • Dwayne Bacon: Let go by Knicks

Bacon was waived by the Knicks on Thursday, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports. Bacon has struggled to find a stable NBA role on a competitive team, and that doesn't change with this transaction. He's coming off a career year where he averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists, but he was relatively inefficient. The 26-year-old is likely running out of chances to prove himself.

  • Knicks' Dwayne Bacon: Agrees to deal with Knicks

Bacon and the Knicks agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports. Bacon spent last season in Orlando, where he appeared in all 72 games and averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.7 minutes per contest -- all career highs. The Florida State product will now head to a much deeper and more talented Knicks roster, so it's likely that he'll fill a reduced role off the bench. The four-year veteran will compete with Alec Burks, Evan Fournier, Kevin Knox and rookie Quentin Grimes for minutes.

  • Dwayne Bacon: Time in Orlando over

The Magic waived Bacon on Sunday. For an Orlando team that lost several key players to injuries and 2020-21 and was one of the more active teams ahead of the trade deadline, Bacon was one of the few constants in the lineup. He appeared in all 72 of the Magic's games last season and started 50 of them, but he was one of the NBA's least-productive rotation players. Though he averaged double figures in scoring (10.9 points per game) for the first time in his career, he shot a dismal 40.2 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from three-point range. He also did little to supplement the offense, averaging only 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks across 25.7 minutes per contest. Bacon should find work elsewhere around the NBA, but his underwhelming resume through four years in the league means he may have to settle for a minimum deal in free agency.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Struggles from field in loss

Bacon managed five points (2-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes during Thursday's 116-93 loss to the Hawks. The 25-year-old has cooled down considerably, totaling just 10 total points over his last two games after averaging 19.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals over his first five games in the month of May. Despite his recent rough stretch, Bacon is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, and three-pointers through 70 games this season. The fourth-year guard will look to bounce back Friday on the road against the 76ers.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Cools off in Tuesday's loss

Bacon managed just five points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Tuesday's 114-102 loss to Milwaukee. Bacon, who had been cooking over the past few games, finally came back to earth in the loss. This is more like the kind of production we are used to seeing from Bacon, and so it would not be at all surprising to see him continue down this path. That said, the Magic seem intent on giving him minutes, so perhaps he can find his touch just in time to have an impact before the season comes to a close.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Scores 18 points in 23 minutes

Bacon registered 18 points (7-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, two assists and a steal across 23 minutes in Sunday's 128-96 loss to the Timberwolves. Bacon connected on 58.3 percent of his shots while the rest of the starters shot a combined 28.9 percent. Bacon has scored in double figures in four of five games this month with three 20-point performances. He hasn't added much else fantasy-wise but he has shown an ability to score some points over the last few weeks.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Career-high 28 in Friday's loss

Bacon scored a career-high 28 points (9-19 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-10 FT) while adding four rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes during Friday's loss to the Hornets. The 25-year-old led the Magic in scoring against his former club, and it was the third time in the last four games Bacon has hit for 20 or more points. Over his last 11 games, he's averaging 15.6 points, 3.2 boards, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 30.7 minutes as one of the few healthy wing players left on the Orlando roster.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Registers 20 points in blowout loss

Bacon scored 20 points (10-18 FG, 0-1 3Pt) while adding four rebounds and a block in 29 minutes Wednesday during a 132-96 loss to the Celtics. Bacon has managed to score 20 points twice in his last three games despite not connecting on a single three-pointer and making only six total free throws. He isn't the most consistent of scorers but has managed to top the 15-point mark 19 times this season, and he's added a few multi-steal performances here and there, but he doesn't offer much else in terms of fantasy production.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Starting Saturday

Bacon will start Saturday's matchup against the Grizzlies. James Ennis (calf) is out, so Bacon will step back into the starting five. Across his past five starts, Bacon has averaged 14.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists in 30.6 minutes.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Another strong scoring effort

Bacon scored 16 points (6-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT) to go along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 31 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Cavaliers. Bacon was out of the starting five for the first time in five games, though he still managed to top 30 minutes. He also found plenty of opportunity to get his shot up, helping him score in double digits for the third consecutive game. Bacon provides little else across the stat sheet, but he does offer some scoring upside.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Coming off bench

Bacon will come off the bench Wednesday against the Cavaliers, Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel reports. With James Ennis (calf) returning to the starting five, Bacon will resume a bench role. In 20 games as a reserve this season, he's averaged 8.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 19.1 minutes.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Goes for 20 in loss

Bacon had 20 points (6-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds and two steals in Sunday's loss to the Pacers. Making his fourth straight start, Bacon saw 32 minutes and turned in his second 20-point effort in the last week. With a few regulars injured, Bacon could continue to see increased minutes over the next couple of games, but he doesn't contribute much, fantasy-wise, outside of occasional scoring outbursts.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Leads team with 22 points

Bacon scored 22 points (7-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT) while adding three rebounds, three steals and two assists over 33 minutes during the 114-110 loss to the Rockets on Sunday. Filling in for the injured James Ennis (calf), Bacon led the team in points, field goals made and free throws made. Bacon has been an up-and-down scorer for the Magic all season long but doesn't add much fantasy value anywhere else. Up next for the Magic is a Tuesday matchup against the Hawks.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Starting Sunday

Bacon is starting Sunday's game against the Rockets. Bacon had come off the bench in the last two contests, but he'll rejoin the starting lineup with James Ennis (calf) sidelined. Bacon has averaged 9.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game in his last five appearances.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Coming off bench

Bacon will come off the bench Wednesday against the Bulls. With Gary Harris (rest) returning to the starting five, Bacon will resume a bench role. As a reserve this season, he's averaged 8.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 20.1 minutes.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Scores 14 points despite struggles

Bacon notched 14 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 29 minutes in Monday's loss against the Spurs. The Magic looked overmatched for the second game in a row and Bacon was far from being an effective player on offense, as he needed 14 shots to record 14 points, but he still ended as Orlando's third-highest scorer. Bacon has been struggling badly on offense of late, but this performance still represents a step in the right direction for the 2017 second-round pick since he was coming off four straight single-digit scoring performances.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Struggles from field in loss

Bacon notched seven points (1-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals across 27 minutes in Sunday's loss against the Bucks. Orlando suffered a 37-point loss against Milwaukee in a game where not a single Magic starter scored in double digits, but Bacon still found a way to contribute on both ends of the court. His shooting struggles conspired against him in this one, but that has been a major issue for the 2017 second-round pick, as he entered this game shooting just 33.3 percent from the field over his previous five appearances. Bacon will remain in the starting lineup and has potential, but the fact that he has scored in single digits in each of his last four appearances as a starter doesn't bode well for him, especially if opposing defenses will start focusing on him a bit more down the stretch.

  • Magic's Dwayne Bacon: Struggles with shot in loss

Bacon logged 13 points (5-15 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and three rebounds across 37 minutes in Saturday's 137-91 loss to the Jazz. Bacon missed all five of his three-point attempts, which contributed to his 33 percent conversion rate in the lopsided loss. While it was a regression for most of the starting five, it was especially true for Bacon, who is a shot-dependent producer and doesn't do much in the secondary categories.
