Magic's Markelle Fultz: Dishes out 15 dimes
Fultz produced 10 points (5-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt), two rebounds, 15 assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Sunday's 125-111 victory over the Heat.
Fultz didn't have his best scoring performance, but he excelled as a distributor and finished with a season-high mark in assists. He missed most of the season while rehabbing from a knee injury and played in only 18 games (three starts). He averaged 10.8 points and 5.5 assists per contest, but he figures to have a bigger role next season if he stays healthy.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Starting Tuesday
Fultz will start Tuesday's contest against the Cavaliers, Dan Savage of the Magic's official site reports.
Fultz will draw his first start of the season with Cole Anthony (toe) sidelined. While the fifth-year point guard will operate as a starter, it's likely Orlando still keeps a close eye on his minutes, as they've been limiting him to around 20 minutes since he returned from a torn ACL at the end of February. Regardless, Fultz has still been productive and appears to be hitting his stride, as he's scored in double figures in five consecutive contests. During that stretch, he's averaged 13.8 points, 5.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 20.4 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Scores 11 with six dimes
Fultz notched 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and six assists in 22 minutes during Sunday's 118-88 loss to the Knicks.
While Cole Anthony (toe) exited the game early on and did not return, the Magic continue to be very careful with Fultz's workload since he returned from a torn ACL. In fact, his 22 minutes Sunday marked a new season high, as he's typically been capped in the 18-to-21-minute range. With only three games remaining, don't expect anything to change for Fultz, workload-wise. At this point, his focus is squarely on him beginning the 2022-23 campaign at full strength.... See More ... Magic's Markelle Fultz: Season-best performance
Fultz produced 19 points (7-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and three steals across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 127-110 loss to the Wizards.
Fultz supplied a season-high 19 points, supplementing his scoring with strong facilitating and racking up multiple steals for the third straight game. Although 12 Magic players received double-digit minutes, Fultz trailed only Franz Wagner in scoring and shots taken. Fultz will look to carry his momentum into Friday's contest against the Raptors.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Playing Tuesday, sitting Wednesday
Fultz will play in Tuesday's game against Golden State, but he'll be held out of Wednesday night's matchup against the Thunder, Dan Savage of OrlandoMagic.com reports.
Fultz recently returned from a torn ACL, so the Magic will continue to exercise caution with his workload as they play out the string on another rebuilding season. Through nine appearances off the bench, Fultz is averaging 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.8 steals in 18.0 minutes per contest.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Gives lift to second unit
Fultz finished with 14 points (4-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven assists, three rebounds and one steal across 18 minutes Friday in the Magic's 118-110 win over the Timberwolves.
Fultz took a little longer than expected to return to action after tearing his ACL on Jan. 6, 2021 and undergoing surgery soon thereafter, but the 23-year-old has looked excellent in his first five games with Orlando. He's getting good usage off the bench and is shooting 53.8 percent from the field while averaging 10.4 points, 4.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 0.6 steals. However, Fultz has played between 15 and 20 minutes in each of those contests, and the Magic seemingly have no motivation to expand his role while starting guards Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs are seemingly higher priorities when it comes to player development.... Magic's Markelle Fultz: Well-rounded line off bench
Fultz played 17 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 102-99 loss to the Suns, finishing with 11 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists, three rebounds and one steal. He's scheduled to sit out Wednesday's game against the Pelicans for rest purposes.
Fultz has received between 15 and 20 minutes in each of his four games following a return from a 14-month recovery from a torn ACL, and he's generally looked good in all of those appearances. With averages of 9.5 points, 3.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 0.5 steals on 54.8 percent shooting from the field, Fultz should be viewed as more of a deep-league asset, though he'll draw more intrigue in shallower formats if Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley is willing to extend him more minutes. Fultz will likely continue to sit out one half of the Magic's back-to-back sets for the remainder of the season, however.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Will play Tuesday, sit Wednesday
Fultz will play in Tuesday's game against the Suns before resting Wednesday at New Orleans, Khobi Price of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
The Magic will continue to exercise caution with the guard, who recently made his return from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly 14 months. For the most part, Fultz has looked good through his first three appearances, totaling 27 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, a steal and a block in 50 combined minutes. Look for the 2017 No. 1 overall pick to play roughly 20 minutes off the bench Tuesday before sitting the back-end of the back-to-back set. Following Wednesday's game, Fultz should return to action Friday against Minnesota.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Not on injury report
Fultz (rest) isn't on the injury report for Saturday's game against Memphis.
Fultz was sidelined Friday against Toronto due to left knee injury management, but he'll return for the second half of the back-to-back set. Across his first two appearances of the season, he's averaged 10.5 points and 4.0 assists in 15.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Out Friday
Fultz won't play Friday against the Raptors for left knee injury management.
Fultz made his season debut this week and averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 15.5 minutes in two games, but he'll take a seat Friday for the front half of the back-to-back set this weekend. It's not a major surprise the 23-year-old isn't playing both games, and he'll be back on the court for Saturday's matchup with Memphis.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Will remain limited Wednesday
Fultz will remain on a minutes limit for Wednesday's game against Indiana, Cody Taylor of USA Today reports.
Fultz made his long-awaited return from a torn ACL on Monday against Indiana and looked good in 16 minutes of action, finishing with 10 points, six assists and two rebounds. Coach Jamahl Mosley said the plan for Fultz's workload will remain the same Wednesday, so he'll likely see somewhere between 16 and 20 minutes. Given the long layoff, and the Magic's position in the East, the team will likely bring Fultz along slowly over the next few weeks.... See More ... See Less
Magic's Markelle Fultz: Plays for first time in 14 months
Fultz (knee) totaled 10 points (5-7 FG), six assists and two rebounds across 16 minutes during Monday's 119-103 win over the Pacers.
After a 14-month recovery from ACL surgery, Fultz made his much-anticipated 2021-22 debut Monday and scored efficiently while excelling as a distributor. As anticipated, the Magic capped Fultz's playing time, but he still saw comparable playing time to fellow reserve guards Gary Harris (20), R.J. Hampton (17) and Terrence Ross (14). Once Fultz gets a few games under his belt and regains full conditioning, he should serve as the Magic's top guard off the bench behind young starters Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs.... See More ... Magic's Markelle Fultz: Will be limited during return
Head coach Jamahl Mosley said Fultz (knee) will come off the bench and play between 16-20 minutes during Monday's matchup with the Pacers, Cody Taylor of USA Today reports.
As expected, Fultz will be available for the first time this season after being sidelined for nearly 14 months due to a torn ACL that he suffered in January of 2021. During his first season with the Magic (2019-20), the 2017 No. 1 overall pick made 72 appearances and averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 27.7 minutes per game. However, he logged only seven full games last season before the ACL tear. Fantasy managers' expectations should be tempered moving forward, but Fultz should garner plenty of opportunities to prove he's still the player he was before the devastating injury.... See More ...
