  • Spurs' Maliq Brown: Logs 10 minutes off bench Saturday

Brown (back) scored eight points (3-3 FG, 2-2 3Pt) and added a rebound across 10 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 102-98 preseason loss to the Suns. Brown missed the preseason opener against the Hawks on Thursday due to a back injury, but he was one of seven bench players to log double-digit minutes in this matchup. A second-round pick out of Duke in the 2026 NBA Draft, Brown isn't expected to have a big role with the Spurs in 2026-27, and it wouldn't be surprising if he spent most of his rookie year in the G League.

  • Spurs' Maliq Brown: Sitting out Thursday

Brown (back) is out for Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Brown is dealing with some tightness, so this sounds like a precaution. The No. 44 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft is not expected to crack the rotation on Opening Night.

  • Spurs' Maliq Brown: Racks up five stocks in win

Brown finished with four points (1-1 FG, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block across 29 minutes during Sunday's 90-80 Las Vegas Summer League win over the Bucks. Brown dominated the offensive glass, grabbing seven of his nine rebounds on that end while also flashing some impressive playmaking ability. Brown has elite defensive upside, but the Spurs will likely bring him along slowly.

  • Spurs' Maliq Brown: Invisible in defeat

Brown posted two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 22 minutes of Monday's 88-84 Summer League loss to the Lakers. Since scoring 10 points in his opener, Brown has since posted two duds for the Spurs. The No. 44 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Brown is averaging 4.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals on 50.0 percent shooting through three exhibitions.
