Grimes closed Wednesday's 101-92 win over Miami with 23 points (8-14 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and one steal over 36 minutes. Grimes' playing time and fantasy value has largely been on the downturn since the team acquired Josh Hart at the trade deadline in early February, but the second-year wing has inexplicably enjoyed a surprising surge of late. After playing between 20 and 25 minutes over a four-game stretch between March 12 and 20, Grimes has received 26-, 38-, 38- and 36-minute workloads over the subsequent four contests. His production has taken off accordingly, as Grimes is averaging 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 three-pointers, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals over that stretch. There's a level of unsustainability to his offense -- he's knocked down 51.3 percent of his 9.8 three-point attempts per game -- but if he continues to get elevated minutes like he has over the past three contests, Grimes might be able to remain valuable to some degree once shooting regression inevitably hits.... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Just misses double-double
Grimes amassed 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt), nine rebounds, six assists and two steals across 38 minutes during Monday's 137-115 win over the Rockets. The second-year guard came within one dime of recording his first career double-double. Grimes has scored in double digits in three straight games thanks to an incredible eruption from beyond the arc, as he's gone 15-for-29 on three-point attempts. That just builds on the growth in his shooting he's displayed since the All-Star break -- over the last 16 games, Grimes has averaged 2.5 threes a game while shooting 44.4 percent from long range.... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Leads from deep in 25-point outing
Grimes accumulated 25 points (10-18 FG, 5-10 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists and three steals across 38 minutes during Thursday's 111-106 loss to the Magic. Grimes led the team in threes made while finishing with a team-high-tying point total in a losing effort Thursday against Orlando. Grimes has tallied at least 20 points with five or more threes five times this season, including in two straight contests.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Bounces back Wednesday
Grimes finished Wednesday's 127-120 loss to the Heat with 22 points (7-12 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 26 minutes. Grimes was coming off five straight games with single-digit scoring outputs, but he made an unexpected impact as a perimeter shooter Wednesday. The 22 points tied his best total of the month, but aside from the three-pointers category, he offered little impact in other areas. Given his recent form prior to Wednesday's contest along with his lack of diverse statistical production, Grimes is tough to recommend as a pickup outside of deeper leagues, even while he continues to hold down a starting role.... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Run of poor production continues
Grimes logged four points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, one block and one steal across 20 minutes during Tuesday's 123-107 win over the Trail Blazers. Though he continues to hold down a starting role, Grimes has been struggling to put up fantasy-friendly numbers and is starting to see his minutes dwindle at the expense of trade-deadline pickup Josh Hart. He's reached the 30-minute mark just once in his last 14 games, averaging 7.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers and 1.5 assists over that stretch while shooting 42.5 percent from the field.... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Scores 22 against Brooklyn
Grimes racked up 22 points (8-12 FG, 6-9 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 26 minutes during Wednesday's 142-118 victory over Brooklyn. Grimes was efficient from the field and posted a solid scoring line, but he didn't contribute much in other categories. Grimes has gone seven straight starts without clearing the 30-minute mark, and his numbers have declined in that span, as he's averaging just 8.0 points per game.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Plays 22 minutes against Nets
Grimes closed with eight points (2-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal over 22 minutes during Monday's 124-106 victory over the Nets. Even though RJ Barrett played just 24 minutes due to an undisclosed issue, Grimes did not see a large workload in this one, as Josh Hart and Immanuel Quickley had the hot hands off the bench while Jalen Brunson dropped 40 points. Grimes' minutes and fantasy production are trending in the wrong direction because New York's trade deadline move didn't do him any favors.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Continues to struggle in loss
Grimes notched 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt) and four rebounds over 38 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 loss to the Nets. Grimes continues to do very little with the time he is given, delivering another underwhelming performance. Despite starting and playing upward of 32 minutes on most nights, Grimes has been a non-factor in standard formats. He is outside the top 200 over the past two weeks, and anyone holding him can certainly be looking elsewhere if frustration is setting in.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Posts diverse final line
Grimes contributed 10 points (3-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 40 minutes during Monday's 123-121 overtime loss to Toronto. Grimes fared well with limited shot attempts, and he managed to score in double figures for the third time in four games. He also turned in a solid effort on the defensive end by securing a steal and a block.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Poor shooting in Friday's win
Grimes ended Friday's 112-108 win over Washington with eight points (2-10 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 33 minutes. Grimes went just 2-of-10 from the floor in the victory, ending with an underwhelming performance. There were very few positives here for anyone rostering Grimes, other than the fact he played 33 minutes. His role feels relatively secure, and while he is worth a roster spot in most fantasy formats, his ceiling is limited.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Posts 19 points in win
Grimes closed with 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 36 minutes during Saturday's 108-88 victory over Houston. Grimes shot well from beyond the arc, where he scored nine of his 19 points on the night. He also recorded a pair of steals for his second straight contest. Grimes averaged 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 14 games during the month of December.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Erupts for career-high 33 points
Grimes contributed 33 points (12-25 FG, 7-16 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds and four assists across 48 minutes during Tuesday's 126-121 overtime loss to Dallas. With Jalen Brunson (hip) sitting out and RJ Barrett (finger) exiting early, Grimes was thrust into a larger role on the wing and responded by putting up 25 shots en route to a new career-high mark in scoring. The second-year wing has firmly established himself as a starter at this point, and he should benefit from an uptick in playing time and usage if Brunson's and Barrett's injuries force either player to miss additional time. In his 18 starts since supplanting Cam Reddish on the top unit, Grimes is averaging 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.2 treys and 0.8 steals in 33.6 minutes per contest.... See More ... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Showcases passing ability
Grimes finished with 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-7 3Pt), three rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes during Sunday's 119-112 loss to the 76ers. Grimes scored in double figures for the second time in three games, and he also turned in his best passing performance since Nov. 20 against Phoenix. The Houston product is averaging 12.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists through 11 contests in December.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Scores eight points in return
Grimes (ankle) closed Friday's 118-117 loss to the Bulls with eight points (3-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block over 35 minutes. Grimes returned to action Friday and started after missing Wednesday's game with a sprained ankle. He struggled from the field and missed six of his last seven shots. The 22-year-old averaged 14.6 points while making 50.0 percent of his threes in the seven games before the injury and will aim to return to that form moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Will play Friday
Grimes (ankle) is available for Friday's game against Chicago, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Grimes sat out Wednesday due to a right ankle sprain but will be active Friday. He should be expected to return to the starting lineup and push Immanuel Quickley back to the bench. Grimes has logged 28 or more minutes in each of his last 10 games and has secured three 20-point outings in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Questionable Friday
Grimes (ankle) is questionable to play in Friday's game versus the Bulls, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Grimes is questionable to miss his second straight contest after sitting out Wednesday's game with a right ankle sprain. His next chance to play will be Sunday's matchup with Philadelphia if he can't suit up against Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Downgraded to out
Grimes (ankle) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Raptors. Grimes will miss his first game since Nov. 16 due to a right ankle sprain. Cam Reddish, Immanuel Quickley and Miles McBride are all candidates to see extended playing time in his absence. Grimes' next chance to play is Friday's matchup with Chicago.... See More ... Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Bounces back vs. Golden State
Grimes supplied 19 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound and four assists across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 132-94 victory over the Warriors. Grimes was held to six points in 32 minutes Sunday against the Pacers, but he looked like a completely different player Tuesday. He scored 12 of his 19 points from deep and also turned in his best passing night since Nov. 27 against Memphis. Grimes has now scored in double figures in five of his past seven contests, and he's reached the 20-point threshold in two of those appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Held to six points
Grimes closed with six points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals over 32 minutes during Sunday's 109-106 win over the Pacers. Grimes was coming off a pair of double-digit scoring performances, but he attempted only three shots in this one. He did manage to contribute across the board, dishing out two assists for his third straight game. The Houston product is averaging 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists over his last six appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Quentin Grimes: Pops for 22 points in win
Grimes ended with 22 points (6-10 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Friday's 114-91 victory over Chicago. Grimes topped 20 points for just the second time this season, continuing what has been a decent stretch of games. He has been inside the top 100 over the past two weeks, providing value as an efficient, low-volume scorer. There doesn't appear to be a ton of upside, at least while the Knicks are rolling out a relatively healthy roster, but he should at least be on the radar in 12-team leagues, given his role....
