Chasen Hines, OL, LSU
NFL Draft analysis for Chasen Hines, OL, LSU
Draft Scouting Report:
Rating: 71.08 (Chance to start)
Pro Comparison: Jon Feliciano
Strengths:
Came to LSU as a defensive lineman and switched to the offensive line during the 2018 preseason. Position flexibility -- he's at his best at guard but can also play center. Explodes off line and easily gets to the second level. Does a good job handling stunts and twists, and shows the ability to re-anchor in his pass sets. Excels as a run blocker -- he will punch you in the mouth when asked to pull and is a tone-setter. Consistently drives off the ball, and moves the defensive lineman he's responsible for off the spot.
Weaknesses:
Good off the line as a run blocking, but he can sometimes struggle sustaining blocks in pass protection. Benefitted at LSU from a lot of double-team blocks, which at times made his job easier. Likely a better fit in gap than zone schemes.
Accolades:
- Started 15 games over last two seasons
- 2021: 68.7 PFF grade
