Jaylen Warren, RB, Oklahoma State
NFL Draft analysis for Jaylen Warren, RB, Oklahoma State
Draft Scouting Report:
Rating: 69.36 (Role player)
Pro Comparison: Ray Rice
Strengths:
Warren was rated the fourth-best JUCO running back in the nation by 247Sport before landing at Oklahoma State by way of Utah State. He's a huge asset in the pass game -- get him the ball in space and he does the rest. He shows quick burst with the ball in his hand, has open-field twitchiness to make defenders miss, and is lightning quick. He can bounce it outside and defensive ends will struggle to get a hand on him and he also runs hard between the tackles. In pass protection, he looks to blow up blitzing linebackers.
Weaknesses:
He's not a traditional between-the-tackles runner; he can do it but looks more comfortable when he's able to bounce it outside. He can sometimes dance too much in backfield before trying to turn the corner, and while he plays faster than his 4.55 40 time at the combine, his lack of pure speed will be exposed at times in the NFL.
Accolades:
- 2021: Offensive Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Utah State
- 2021: Fifth in Big 12 in rush yards (1,126)
