Former Baylor WR Josh Gordon could draw interest in the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft. (US Presswire)

The NFL informed clubs on Monday that the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft will take place at 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 12.

There will be, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, eight players eligible for the supplemental draft.

Those players are Boise St. cornerback Quaylon Ewing, former Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon, Syracuse fullback Adam Harris, Alabama A&M linebacker Larry Lumpkin, Iowa State lineman Adrian Haughton, Georgia defensive end Montez Robinson, Louisiana Tech wide receiver Houston Tuminello and TCU running back Ed Wesley. Rosenthal noted that "no other applications will be accepted."

Wesley and Gordon are the two best-known names on that list. NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler highlighted Gordon's entering the supplemental draft earlier Monday, writing that "Gordon has tremendous speed and natural athleticism for his 6-4, 220-pound frame, but is still very rough around the edges as a receiver."

Brugler also noted Gordon's off-field issues; Gordon sat out the 2011 season after transferring following an indefinite suspension for an off-campus drug arrest.

Wesley, who left TCU for family reasons, entered the Supplemental Draft a few days ago. Brugler wrote at the time that "Wesley has good vision, anticipation and decisive movements as a runner, but isn't overly elusive."

Don't count on the Supplemental Draft getting as much pub as it did in 2011: Raiders quarteback Terrelle Pryor was a huge name to enter the later version of the draft and drew a ton of interest in the event.

But there's still plenty of hope for teams to land talent via the Supplemental Draft: look no further than this historical recap of guys taken in the Supplemental Draft from CBSSports.com's Ryan Wilson for evidence that sometimes teams can find gems.
