It might be an understatement to say, but June has turned out to be a rough month for wide receivers on the San Francisco 49ers roster . Not only is Deebo Samuel going to be sidelined for the next three to four months after breaking his foot, but the team will also be without Richie James, who broke his wrist while training last week.

Basically in a span of just days, the 49ers lost two receivers, and now, it looks like some members of the team have taken it upon themselves to find at least one potential replacement, and it seems they have their eye on Dez Bryant

Shortly after the news of the injuries came out, 49ers receiver Kendrick Bourne sent a tweet to Bryant.

And just so there's no confusion about what Bourne meant with those googly eyes, he clarified his message during an interview with 49ers Webzone

"We're down guys right now, so we need some help," Bourne said of adding Bryant. "You never know."

Bourne isn't the only one who would like to see Bryant make the move out west. Running back Raheem Mostert also seemed pretty excited at the idea of adding the former Cowboys receiver to the 49ers roster.

As for Dez, he offered his own pair of googly eyes to show his excitement at Bourne's idea.

The 49ers are actually one team that Bryant would probably love to play for, and we know that because he's actually mentioned them as a potential landing spot before. Back in May 2018, Bryant listed them as the one team he wanted to sign with.

In what may or may not be a coincidence, Bryant has been releasing film this week to prove that he can still play.

Of course, it's going to take more than one impressive catch on an empty practice field to convince the 49ers to sign him. The problem with Bryant is that it's not clear if he still has what it takes to play in the NFL. For one, he hasn't played a single regular season snap since the 2017 season. Also, when he did try to play back in 2018, he tore his Achilles during his first practice with the Saints

By adding Bryant, the 49ers would also potentially be taking snaps away from young receivers who are already on the roster like Jalen Hurd, Brandon Aiyuk and Dante Pettis. That being said, if Bryant would be willing to sign a league minimum contract that included little guaranteed money, then it might make sense for the 49ers to take a risk on him, but that's about the only way it would make sense, and even then, it would barely make sense.
