The Saints lost a big piece of their rushing attack Sunday, with Khiry Robinson going down for the season after a painful leg injury that ultimately ended up being a broken tibia

Robinson only rushed for 180 yards in eight games, but he did score four touchdowns, becoming a critical part of New Orleans' red-zone attack.

New Orleans is likely to dip into the free-agent market to replace him and at least one of the names involved is a reasonably big name: Trent Richardson.

According to Ian Rappoport of NFL.com, the Saints gave T-Rich a tryout among other running backs and expect to sign someone.

Pierre Thomas, curiously, wasn't a prominent name here (although he certainly could've been an unmentioned back).

Richardson was signed by the Raiders this offseason but cut before he could play a down for Oakland.

He's a big name, but it's pretty hard to imagine the Saints see him as their goal-line solution. The better idea is to just keep feeding Mark Ingram

The Saints are going to give Richardson a look. (USATSI)
