However, McClain relayed that internal discussions decided that Thomas wasn't a good fit with the organization. The veteran safety was cut by the Ravens before Week 1 after getting into an altercation with fellow safety Chuck Clark, and he'll remain a free agent for the time being.

The Texans placed A.J. Moore (hamstring) on the injured list Monday, so it looks like there's legitimate interest in Thomas, who was released by the Ravens in August. One league source said there's a "strong chance" the Texans sign him if the audition and meetings with team officials go well. Thomas is entering the final year of the four-year extension he signed in 2014 that made him the highest-paid safety in the league. We'd expect him to be chasing a deal similar to the six-year, $78 million deal the Chiefs gave Eric Berry last summer. Considering he's perennially been among the best at his position -- Thomas is a three-time All-Pro who's been selected to the Pro Bowl in six of his eight professional seasons -- Seattle presumably has a mutual interest in keeping the Texas product around for years to come.
