Josh Hawkins: Released from practice squad
Hawkins was let go from the Falcons' practice squad Tuesday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Atlanta decided to shuffle its reserve roster early in the week -- promoting offensive lineman John Wetzel to the active roster, parting ways with Hawkins and acquiring Laquon Treadwell to the practice squad. Hawkins has 32 regular-season appearances to his name, though he hasn't made it onto the field since playing for Philadelphia at the tail end of 2018. Now back on the free-agent market, the veteran defensive back searches for another squad to latch on to.

Josh Hawkins: Gets practice squad spot
The Falcons signed Hawkins to the practice squad Sunday, Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com reports.
Hawkins reportedly put together a strong training camp in Atlanta, but the team wasn't able to justify handing him a spot on the final team. The former XFL standout nonetheless gets a shot to continue his development in what will be his third season with the Falcons.

Falcons' Josh Hawkins: Third XFLer to join Atlanta
Hawkins agreed to a contract with the Falcons on Wednesday, Kelsey Kramer of Heavy.com reports.
Hawkins arrives in Atlanta after most recently suiting up in five games for the XFL's Dallas Renegades before the league cancelled the remainder of its season in mid-March. Prior to his time with the Renegades, Hawkins had a fair amount of NFL experience, logging 32 combined regular-season appearances between the Packers, Panthers and Eagles. Hawkins turned in his best year in 2017 with Green Bay, logging 38 tackles, six pass deflections and six quarterbacks hits in 15 games (including three starts). He joins an extremely youthful Falcons secondary that currently has Kendall Sheffield and Isaiah Oliver penciled in as starters at cornerback.

Eagles' Josh Hawkins: Promoted from practice squad
The Eagles signed Hawkins from their practice squad Monday, Geoff Mosher of 97.5 The Fanatic Philadelphia reports.
Hawkins' spot on the 53-man roster comes following the Eagles' decision to waive fellow cornerbacks Chandon Sullivan and De'Vante Bausby. The 25-year-old will play a depth role in Philadelphia's secondary, and he's expected to take most of his snaps on special teams.

Josh Hawkins: Waived by Carolina
Hawkins was waived by the Panthers on Wednesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Hawkins was waived by Carolina to make room for running back Kenjon Barner on the 53-man roster. The 25-year old played six defensive snaps and 72 special teams snaps in five games with the Panthers this season. If Hawkins goes unclaimed on waivers, he will be free to search for a depth role elsewhere in the league.

Hawkins was promoted to the Panthers' active roster Saturday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Hawkins is the beneficiary of an open spot on the Panthers' 53-man roster. He will help provide depth at cornerback in Sunday's matchup with the Bengals, as starter Donte Jackson (groin) is considered questionable.

Hawkins tallied 37 tackles (27 solo) and six pass deflections over 15 games with the Packers in 2017.
It was thought that Hawkins would mainly fill a depth role for the Packers in 2017, but due to injuries to fellow defensive backs he played more than anticipated and even started three games. His experience this past season will help him in the competition for a roster spot during training camp in 2018.
