Johnson (knee) has been removed from the Chargers' active/PUP list after passing his physical Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Johnson has been recovering from an MCL injury in his knee that occurred in Week 9 of last year. Prior to that injury, the veteran defensive tackle accumulated 22 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack across eight games. Johnson (knee) was absent from the Chargers' minicamp practice Tuesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Johnson suffered a fractured knee and MCL injury in the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Chargers and spent the remainder of the 2022 season on injured reserve. The veteran defensive tackle has yet to participate in the Chargers' offseason program while he works his way back from the injury. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Johnson will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury he suffered during Sunday's win over the Falcons, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Per Staley, Johnson suffered an MCL injury and a fractured knee in the Week 9 win. Johnson had been filling a big role on the Chargers' defensive line, playing over half of the team's defensive snaps in all but one contest and racking up 22 tackles, one sack and one pass defensed over eight games. Johnson was taken to the locker room on a cart after sustaining this injury at some point during the second half, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
