Kasey Redfern: Cut by Falcons
The Falcons waived Redfern on Tuesday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Redfern was a recent signee of the Falcons, as he was signed prior to Week 6's game against the Cardinals. The 28-year-old saw action in three games, accumulating a punting average of 41.2 yards in that span. With Matt Bosher (groin) residing on injured reserve, it's unclear who will take over punting duties.

Kasey Redfern: Heading to Atlanta
The Falcons are expected to sign Redfern to the active roster Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
In the meantime, Redfern has been placed on the Falcons' practice squad Friday. He'll provide Atlanta with depth at the punter position while Matt Wile (quadriceps) nurses an injury.

Cowboys' Kasey Redfern: Cleared to play
Redfern (knee) punted four times in Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Redfern was making his way back from a torn ACL and MCL back in 2017, and he was able to make his Cowboys debut last week. However, with Chris Jones on the roster and signed through 2021, it is unlikely Redfern cracks the final roster.

Redfern (knee) signed a contract with the Cowboys on Friday, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Redfern tore his ACL and MCL in 2017, but it appears he's ready to make a comeback. The Cowboys already have punter Chris Jones, who is signed through 2021, on the roster, so Redfern will have tough competition to make the team.

Kasey Redfern: Heading to free-agent market
Redfern (knee) did not receive a contract tender from the Lions, Michael Rothstein of ESPN reports.
Redfern will thus hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent. However, isn't clear where the veteran punter stands health-wise, as he's coming off a significant knee injury he suffered last September that involved damage to both his ACL and MCL. Given the typical 9-to-12 month timeline that usually accompanies such injuries, it's totally realistic to expect Redfern to be physically able when team training camps roll around in late July and early August.

Lions' Kasey Redfern: Lands on IR
The Lions placed Redfern (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, the Lions' official site reports.
The rookie out of Wofford saw action in just one game for the Lions, getting off one punt for 50 yards. However, he suffered both a torn ACL and MCL, in addition to a partial tear of his patellar tendon, so he'll now have to start the long road to recovery. He'll head to IR, which prompted the Lions to pick up free agent Jeff Locke on Tuesday. Locke should take over starting duties moving forward.

Redfern suffered a torn ACL, MCL and partial tear of a patellar tendon, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The injury ends up being as serious as originally thought after Redfern collided with Arizona players in Sunday's season opener. The team will now need to sign on another punter for the remainder of the regular season.

Redfern (knee) won't return to Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
If this injury extends past Week 1, it could begin to threaten Redfern's status as a starting punter -- tough luck for his first NFL game. Kicker Matt Prater will continue to handle the punting duties against Arizona, but expect the Lions to bring in another punter if Redfern isn't ready for the Week 2 matchup with the Giants.
