  • Giants' Tre Herndon: Inks deal with Giants

Herndon agreed to a contract with the Giants on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. The 28-year-old cornerback spent the first six seasons of his career in Jacksonville, but he's now found a new home in New York. Last season, Herndon started in four of his 16 appearances, recording 46 total tackles and nine passes defensed. He's expected to add depth to a Giants secondary that ranked 19th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game (229.3) in 2023.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Active for SNF

Herndon (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against Baltimore. Herndon was a limited participant in practice all week and was questionable for Sunday's matchup. However, he's cleared the league's concussion protocol and will be able to suit up against the Ravens.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Returning to practice

Herndon remains in the league's concussion protocols, but he'll return to practice Wednesday while wearing a no-contact jersey, John Shipley of SI.com reports. It's a step in the right direction for Herndon as he works through the league's five-step process to gain clearance to return to play. However, if he's unable to return in Week 15 against the Ravens, Montaric Brown and Gregory Junior will be candidates to see an uptick in snaps.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Unavailable for Week 14

Herndon (concussion) has been ruled out for Jacksonville's matchup with the Browns on Sunday. Herndon entered concussion protocol following the team's overtime loss to the Bengals on Monday, and he will now be unable to play in Week 14 against Cleveland. In his absence, Montaric Brown and Gregory Junior will likely see an increased workload in the Jaguars' secondary.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Remains in protocols

Herndon (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Herndon's absence doesn't come as much of a surprise as he's only two days removed from suffering a concussion during Monday's loss to the Bengals. The Vanderbilt product likely has an uphill battle to be able to suit up Sunday against the Browns and will certainly need to at least log a full practice Thursday or Friday to do so.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Inactive once again

Herndon (coach's decision) is a healthy inactive for Sunday's game in Indianapolis, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports. He'll remain in street clothes for the second game in a row after losing hold of the Jaguars' top nickel back job to Rudy Ford following the team's Week 7 bye. Ford likely solidified his standing atop the depth chart at the nickel spot after recording eight tackles, an interception and two additional pass breakups last week in the Jaguars' upset win over the Bills.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Won't play Week 3

Herndon (knee) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Cardinals. Herndon missed the first two games of the season and was limited in all three of Jacksonville's practices this week, so his inactive status comes as no surprise. The Jaguars are also without top corner CJ Henderson, so recently signed Nevin Lawson may be thrust into action against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals' passing attack.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Nursing shoulder injury

Herndon is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury. Herndon appears to have suffered a shoulder injury in Friday's practice, during which he was a limited participant. If the 23-year-old were forced to miss any time, D.J. Hayden and Breon Borders would be candidates to play expanded roles on defense.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Grabs first two INTs

Herndon had three solo tackles and two interceptions in Sunday's win over the Jets. Herndon has started the last five games with Jalen Ramsey now shipped to the Rams, and he's appeared to come into his own over the last few weeks. The 23-year-old has 31 tackles (21 solo), six passes defensed and two interceptions at the season's midpoint.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Remains in starting role

Herndon will start Sunday's game at Cincinnati after Jalen Ramsey was traded to the Rams this week, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports. Herndon started the last three games while Ramsey was sidelined with a back injury and he'll now step into the starting job full time. The 23-year-old has 25 tackles (16 solo) and two passes defensed through six games.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Questionable for Sunday

Herndon (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 13's contest against the Colts, Phillip Heilman of The Florida Times-Union reports. Herndon practiced in a limited fashion each day this week. The Vanderbilt product is one of three cornerbacks listed on the Jaguars' injury report -- the others being Jalen Ramsey (knee) and Quenton Meeks (knee). If all three play Sunday, Herndon will likely fall back to the bottom of the cornerback rotation, a slotting that's left him without a defensive snap since Week 8 against the Eagles.

  • Jaguars' Tre Herndon: Questionable for Week 7

Herndon (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Houston. Herndon has been inactive the last two games while dealing with the hamstring issue, but he showed enough at practice Friday to earn the questionable tag after beginning the week as a non-participant. The undrafted rookie out of Vanderbilt would likely serve as a depth cornerback and special teams contributor if he's able to play Sunday.
