  • Mike Thomas: Cut by Baltimore

Thomas (shoulder) was released by the Ravens from the active/PUP list with an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Thomas suffered a separated shoulder and a labrum injury at some point this offseason, which will require surgery, so Baltimore moved on Tuesday. The wide receiver will likely be forced to miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign and set his sights on a potential return in 2024.

  • Ravens' Mike Thomas: Opens camp on PUP list

Thomas (shoulder) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Ravens on Friday. Thomas will open camp on the sidelines as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery, but the wide receiver is eligible to return to the practice field at any point ahead of the preseason. The Ravens' first exhibition is set for Aug. 12 against the Eagles.

  • Ravens' Mike Thomas: Will need surgery on shoulder

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Thomas will need to undergo surgery to address a separated shoulder, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. It's unclear when Thomas suffered the injury, but he'll presumably be unavailable for the rest of Baltimore's OTAs and perhaps the start of training camp. The reserve wideout latched on with the Ravens' practice squad last December and earned a reserve/future contract in January, but he's a long shot to make the 2023 Week 1 roster, especially if he remains sidelined to begin camp.

  • Mike Thomas: Waived by Bengals

Thomas was waived by the Bengals on Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Thomas being removed from the roster may suggest that fellow wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is close to returning from his hip injury. Cincinnati gave Thomas opportunities on the outside while Chase and Tee Higgins missed time due to injuries this season, but the 28-year-old wide receiver failed to capitalize, catching just two of 10 targets for 38 yards.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: No targets in Week 9

Thomas didn't have any targets in the Bengals' win over the Panthers, despite playing 22 offensive snaps. It didn't help Thomas that the Bengals were running the ball so well, but it also appears as if Trent Taylor and even practice squad receiver Trenton Irwin have eclipsed Thomas. So much for the notion that he would step up with Ja'Marr Chase (hip) out.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Comes up empty Week 9

Thomas failed to bring in his lone target while playing 24 of the Bengals' 53 snaps on offense in Monday's 32-13 loss to the Browns. Though he was one of several pass catchers who moved into a larger role with Ja'Marr Chase (hip) sidelined for the contest, Thomas nor any of the Bengals' other pass-catching options came through with notable receiving production on a night the Browns dominated the time of possession. A more favorable matchup could await the Bengals in Week 9 against the 2-6 Panthers, but Thomas is still likely to find himself behind all of Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd and Hayden Hurst in the team's pass-catching hierarchy.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Plays four offensive snaps in win

Thomas played on just four offensive snaps and failed to see a single target in Sunday's 30-26 win over the Saints. Thomas was a complete nonfactor in the Bengals' offense with fellow wideout Tee Higgins back in the mix Sunday. Barring injuries to the team's pass catchers, the 28-year-old receiver will find it hard to have much of an impact with limited opportunities on offense. Thomas remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 7 matchup with the Falcons.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Forced into extra duty

Thomas played 41 offensive snaps in Sunday night's loss to the Ravens, catching one pass on three targets for 33 yards. Thomas saw extra action with Tee Higgins out most of the game due to an ankle injury. The target share, even with Higgins out, illustrates the low likelihood Thomas will have a big role in the offense at any point.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Thrust into duty Week 1

Thomas totaled one catch for five yards on five targets while playing 64 snaps on offense Sunday in the Bengals' 23-20 overtime loss to the Steelers. Thomas was on the field much more than expected Week 1, a result of fellow wideout Tee Higgins leaving early with a concussion. Among his five targets was a drop in the end zone on the play preceding Ja'Marr Chase's game-tying touchdown in the waning seconds of regulation. If Higgins has to miss the Bengals' Week 2 game in Dallas, Thomas will take on the third receiver role, given Cincinnati's lack of appealing alternatives.

  • Mike Thomas: Released by Cincy

The Bengals released Thomas on Tuesday. Thomas appeared in 26 games across the past two seasons with Cincinnati, totaling 18 receptions for 184 yards and one score, so his release comes as a surprise. He's only finished with over 100 receiving yards once in his six-year career, but he has extensive special-teams experience, which may be intriguing for some teams around the league.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Remains locked into depth role

Thomas caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Saturday's 16-7 preseason win over the Rams. Thomas' first catch was a 12-yarder on the Bengals' first offensive play of the game. His early usage is an encouraging sign for Thomas' standing in Cincinnati's wide receiver pecking order, as he appears to be the team's top option behind the starting trio of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins (shoulder) and Tyler Boyd. Thomas is unlikely to push any of those three for playing time, but he also appears to be a safe bet to make the 53-man roster in a reserve role.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Re-signs with Bengals

Thomas is re-signing with the Bengals on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Thomas will return for a third straight season in Cincinnati, where he recorded five catches for 52 yards on 11 targets last year. The depth wideout and special-teams contributor remains off the fantasy radar, however.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Modest production

Thomas secured five of 11 targets for 52 yards across 12 games in 2021. Thomas took a statistical step back in 2021, a campaign which saw him play roughly just half the offensive snaps (133) he did in 2020. This offseason, the 27-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Lands on COVID list

Thomas (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. It's unclear whether Thomas tested positive for the virus of if he's considered a close contact, but he'll now be unavailable until he clears the health and safety protocols. He has only five catches for 52 yards in 10 games this season, so his absence shouldn't affect Cincinnati's offensive game plan.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Inactive against Chargers

Thomas (illness) is inactive Week 13 against the Chargers, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. Thomas did not practice all week due to illness and entered the week with a doubtful tag as a result. He had primarily been a special teamer when active this season, a role that could end up in the hands Trenton Irwin or the recently activated Pooka Williams.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Nabs first reception since Week 4

Thomas played nine of the Bengals' 70 offensive snaps and caught his lone target for a 16-yard gain in Sunday's 41-16 loss to the Browns. The reception was Thomas' first since Week 4, as he was sidelined with an ankle injury from Weeks 5 through 7 before failing to draw a target in his return to the lineup Week 8 against the Jets. While all of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd are healthy, Thomas is expected to handle a minor role in the passing attack and rotate in only when one of the three starters needs a breather.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: No limitations Wednesday

Thomas (ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports. Thomas sat out the past two games due to the ankle issue, but he's on track to be available for Week 7. The 27-year-old is unlikely to have a significant role in the offense with the rest of the receiving corps currently healthy.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Not playing Sunday

Thomas (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, according to Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site. Thomas logged a full practice Friday, but that wasn't enough to activate him and now he's set to miss a second straight contest. The wideout has racked up three receptions for 24 yards this season, and his next chance to feature will come at Baltimore on Oct. 24.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Listed as limited participant

Thomas (ankle) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. Thomas sat out Sunday's loss to the Packers due to the ankle issue, but he's back at practice to start this week. The 27-year-old should be able to avoid an injury designation for Week 6 if he can progress to full practice participation Thursday or Friday.

  • Bengals' Mike Thomas: Listed as doubtful for Week 5

Thomas (ankle) is listed as doubtful on the Bengals' injury report, but he is not expected to play Sunday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Barring a major change of events, Thomas will not be active for Sunday's contest against the Packers. Dehner reports that he will be shut down, but the Bengals have yet to make his game status official. The 27-year-old wideout has caught three passes for 24 yards this season.
