Toivonen joined Minnesota after he was a part of the Giants' final roster cuts at the end of August. The 24-year-old has also spent time with the Seahawks, but he's yet to make his NFL debut. He'll now work to find an opportunity elsewhere.

Toivonen was waived by the Giants during the recent wave of roster cuts, but the 6-foot-4, 212-pounder will now provide Minnesota with added wideout depth and is a candidate for a promotion to the active roster should injuries hit the team's wide receiver unit.

Toivonen signed a futures deal with the Giants in January after joining the team's practice squad in early December. He was let go in July to make room for a wave of new additions but was brought back Friday to serve as depth during New York's preseason finale. He played 19 offensive snaps and caught both of his targets for 29 yards during the exhibition game, but he's yet to make his regular-season NFL debut.
