  • Patriots' Eric Johnson: Sees more snaps late in 2024

Johnson played in 11 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 17 tackles (two solo). Johnson signed with the Patriots in late August after failing to make the Colts' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 2022 fifth-round pick mostly served in a rotational role at defensive end behind Daniel Ekuale, Keion White and Christian Barmore (illness). However, Johnson did see more defensive snaps over the final four games of the regular season, and over that span he accumulated 11 tackles (one solo). Johnson has one more year left on his contract with the Patriots and will look to earn a bigger role with New England's first-team defense for the 2025 campaign.

  • Colts' Eric Johnson: No go for Week 8

Johnson (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Saints. Johnson was able to work up to being a full participant at practice this week, but the ankle injury he suffered in Week 7 against Cleveland will now sideline him for at least one contest. In his absence, Adetomiwa Adebawore will be among those who see an increase in workload on the defensive line.

  • Colts' Eric Johnson: Questionable Sunday

Johnson (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints. Johnson was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches after the Colts' Week 7 loss to the Browns, but he seems to be trending in the right direction to play this Sunday. The 25-year-old defensive lineman out of Missouri State was able to participate in full during Friday's practice after recording consecutive DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday. If Johnson is unable to go this Sunday, Adetomiwa Adebawore is expected to see an increased workload as a rotational lineman on the Colts' defense.

  • Colts' Eric Johnson: Placed on non-football injury list

The Colts placed Johnson (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Johnson was selected by the Colts in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but the start of his pro career will be delayed. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but he'll likely need to return to training camp practices soon if he hopes to make the initial roster.
