  • Adam Shaheen: Works out with Bills

Buffalo worked out Shaheen (knee) on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Shaheen spent all of last season on Miami's injured reserve list, but it now appears he could soon get a new opportunity with the Bills. Buffalo is dealing with a rash of injuries in its tight ends room, so it's understandably trying to stock up at the position ahead of Week 9.

  • Dolphins' Adam Shaheen: Placed on season-ending IR

The Dolphins placed Shaheen (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Shaheen nearly received a fresh change of scenery via an attempted trade to the Texans earlier in August, but the deal fell through due to a failed physical, and he is now instead positioned to spend the entire 2022 season on IR. The 2017 second-round pick is set to hit free agency next offseason.

  • Dolphins' Adam Shaheen: Failed on physical, no trade

Shaheen has reverted back to the Dolphins after a failed physical voided a recent trade to Houston, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post notes that Shaheen was flagged for a preexisting knee condition, though he hasn't missed any time at Miami training camp. He doesn't seem likely to make the Dolphins' Week 1 roster and would've been battling for a back-end spot with the Texans.

He'll work to carve out a bigger role for himself with a new opportunity in Houston.

  • Dolphins' Adam Shaheen: Upgrades to full practice

Shaheen (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. After missing the Dolphins' Week 1 win over the Patriots while he was on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Shaheen rejoined the team for practice Wednesday, but his reps were capped on account of the knee injury. Shaheen seemingly erased any concern about his health by participating fully in Thursday's session, but he's not guaranteed to have a sizable role Week 2 against the Bills, given the existing competition at tight end. Mike Gesicki remains the Dolphins' top pass-catching threat at tight end, while Durham Smythe's combination of blocking and receiving skills allowed him to lead the position group in snap share (70 percent) in the opener.
