  • Saints' Eric Wilson: Inks deal

Wilson signed a contract with the Saints on Monday. Wilson spent time with the Texans and Eagles last season after spending the previous four with the Vikings. He played in 14 games in 2021, recording 46 tackles, a pass defensed and an interception. Wilson should help provide depth to the Saints' linebacker unit this upcoming season.

  • Texans' Eric Wilson: Restored from COVID list

Wilson (illness) was activated from the Texans' reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. Wilson was on the COVID-19 list for about a week. He now will be free to return to practice and prepare for Sunday's matchup with 49ers, resuming his role at outside linebacker opposite Christian Kirksey.

  • Texans' Eric Wilson: Placed on COVID-19 list

The Texans placed Wilson on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday after he tested positive for the virus. Wilson has played primarily on special teams since joining the Texans. According to Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston, Wilson is the Texans' only unvaccinated player, which means he'll be subject to an automatic 10-day quarantine since he tested positive. He won't be available for Sunday's game against the Chargers as a result.

  • Texans' Eric Wilson: Claimed by Texans

Wilson was claimed off waivers by Houston on Thursday. The linebacker was waived by the Eagles on Tuesday after appearing in seven contests for the team this year. He made 43 tackles and intercepted a pass in those games. Wilson will have a chance to play sooner rather than later, as Christian Kirksey (thumb) and Kevin Pierre-Louis (illness) both carry questionable tags heading into Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins.

  • Eric Wilson: Waived by Philadelphia

Wilson was waived by the Eagles on Wednesday. Wilson was a coach's decision inactive for the Eagles' Week 8 contest against the Lions. Coach Nick Sirianni appears to be leaning on the team's younger players for defense for the remainder of the season. Expect Davion Taylor to see an increased role for the Eagles' defense Sunday against the Chargers.

  • Eagles' Eric Wilson: Puts up 10 tackles

Wilson posted 10 tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 17-11 loss to the 49ers. Despite playing just 68 percent of the defensive snaps in Week 2, Wilson was one of three Eagles players to hit double-digit stops. Through two games, he has registered 18 tackles (seven solo). He should be a sturdy IDP option as long as his playing time doesn't drop further.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Big tackling day

Wilson posted 11 tackles (four solo) and a pass breakup in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win against the Jaguars. Wilson hit double-digit tackles for the second time this year. With a stranglehold on the starting role because of Anthony Barr's (pectoral) absence, Wilson has capitalized with 90 stops, three sacks, five pass breakups and three interceptions through 12 games. He's second on the team to Eric Kendricks (107) in stops this year.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Has 13 total tackles

Wilson had 13 total tackles, an interception, 0.5 sacks, a QB hit and a pass defensed in Sunday's win over Detroit. Wilson racked up the tackles as he played on all of the defense's 75 snaps. He started at weak-side linebacker and is getting increased playing time after Anthony Barr was lost for the season in Week 2.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Making most of expanded role

Wilson had an interception, a sack, two tackles for a loss, three QB hits, a pass defensed and six tackles in Sunday's loss at Seattle. Wilson started at weak-side linebacker and played on all 54 of the defense's snaps. With Anthony Barr out for the season with a pectoral injury, Wilson is having a larger role and making the most of it. Wilson previously came off the field in nickel and dime packages, but he'll now play alongside Eric Kendricks in almost all formations.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Steps into starting role

Wilson will start at weakside linebacker after Ben Gedeon (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Wilson started three games so far this season and had an 11-tackle performance Week 3, but his defensive role has mostly been limited. The 25-year-old's production as a fill-in starter earlier illustrates some potential IDP viability, but his actual workload won't be fully clear until after Monday's matchup with the Seahawks.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Monster performance in win

Wilson recorded 11 tackles (seven solo) and two sacks across 59 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Raiders. Wilson has replaced Ben Gedeon in Week 2 due to injury and now it may be Wilson's spot to lose. Not only did he play every defensive snap in the contest, he also led the team in tackles and sacks. If he can put together a few more performances of this caliber, look for the 24-year-old to be a sought after IDP candidate.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Plays just seven snaps Sunday

Wilson had two tackles and played just seven snaps on defense in Sunday's win over Atlanta. He also blocked a punt on special teams. Wilson begins the season in a reserve linebacker role. He won't get on the field much in games like Sunday where the opposing offense is mostly passing the ball. However, he'll have an impact on special teams.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Gets start at linebacker

Wilson will start at linebacker Sunday against Detroit in place of Eric Kendricks, who is out with a hamstring injury, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Wilson has been productive when given more playing time as he had 13 total tackles and one sack in two games when given 50 or more snaps on defense in Week 9 and 11.

  • Vikings' Eric Wilson: Moving up depth chart

Wilson is having a strong preseason and looks to be the leading candidate for the fourth linebacker role, ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities reports. Wilson, an undrafted free agent from Cincinnati, had eight tackles in 16 games last season, playing exclusively on special teams. It looks like he could take on a larger role this season and be the first reserve linebacker.
