Donavin Newsom: Released by 49ers
Newsom was released by the 49ers on Monday, Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reports.
Newsom suffered a very serious concussion after colliding with teammate Chanceller James in practice last August and being inadvertently knocked unconscious. He ended up spending the entire season on the 49ers' injured reserve, and Newsom went on to be fully cleared by team doctors in January. He'll now, however, be on the open market and look to sign on with a team before the start of training camp.

49ers' Donavin Newsom: Lands on injured reserve
Newsom (concussion) will revert to the 49ers injured reserve after getting waived/injured by the team, Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group reports.
The concussion occurred as the result of a collision. Newsom figured to be a long shot at landing on the final roster before landing on the IR. He will remain there for the rest of the season unless he and the team reach an injury settlement.

49ers' Donavin Newsom: Released from hospital
Newsom (concussion) was released from the hospital Thursday, Bob Lange of the 49ers' official site reports.
Considering it could have been a lot worse, the fact that Newsom was hospitalized for only two days is a good sign. Unfortunately, though, this injury further reduces his already-slim chances of making the 53-man roster.
