  • Jets' Anders Carlson: Minimal volume in loss

Carlson didn't attempt a field goal and made one of two PAT attempts in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the Seahawks. Carlson's PAT attempt was blocked after the Jets' first touchdown, so the Jets went for two after one of their other two scores. He also recovered a fumble by Seahawks kickoff return man Laviska Shenault. Greg Zuerlein (knee) is eligible to come off IR in Week 14 against the Dolphins, but if the veteran isn't ready to return, then Carlson would continue to kick for the Jets.

  • Jets' Anders Carlson: Makes 58-yarder in loss

Carlson made both of his field-goal attempts and all three of his PAT attempts in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Colts. Carlson's strong performance in his Jets debut was a small silver lining as New York fell to 3-8. He made a career-long 58-yard field goal in the third quarter and added a 35-yarder in the fourth. Carlson's trying to get his career back on track after missing six of 33 field-goal attempts and five of 39 PATs in his rookie regular season with the Packers in 2023.

  • Anders Carlson: Likely to kick for Jets in Week 11

The Jets are expected to elevate Carlson from their practice squad to handle kicking duties in Sunday's game against the Colts, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Carlson will likely become the Jets' fourth kicker in four games, with Riley Patterson and Spencer Shrader having been moved up from the practice squad in Weeks 9 and 10, respectively, after Greg Zuerlein (knee) was moved to injured reserve following Week 8. Riley Patterson was cut after Week 9, and though Shrader was likely the Jets' preferred choice to kick against Indianapolis, he's being signed to the Chiefs' 53-man roster. Zuerlein won't be eligible to return from IR until Week 14, so Carlson could be in store for at least a two-game run as the Jets' kicker. Carlson previously went 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts in two games with the 49ers earlier this season, but he was erratic during his time with Green Bay as a rookie in 2023, missing 13 kicks (seven field goals, six extra points) across 19 combined regular-season and playoff appearances.

  • Anders Carlson: Signs to Jets' practice squad

The Jets signed Carlson to their practice squad Friday. Carlson looks like the favorite to kick for the Jets on Sunday against the Cardinals after the team waived Riley Patterson in a separate move Friday. Carlson kicked in two games for the 49ers in Weeks 7 and 8, but he was cut earlier in the week with Jake Moody (ankle) looking ready to return. Carlson went 5-for-5 on field goals for San Francisco and made three of his four extra-point tries.

  • 49ers' Anders Carlson: Bumps up for Week 8 action

The 49ers elevated Carlson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, in preparation for him to start Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Carlson will get another chance to start for San Francisco due to Jake Moody (ankle) being ruled out for Week 8 and Matthew Wright (shoulder) on injured reserve. Carlson, a second-year pro, converted both of his field-goal tries Week 7 against the Chiefs, but he missed his lone extra-point attempt.

  • 49ers' Anders Carlson: Elevated to active roster

Carlson was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. This was presumed with the injuries to both Jake Moody (ankle) and Matthew Wright (shoulder/back) in consecutive weeks. Carlson was one of the league's worst kickers during the 2023 regular season in terms of extra-point conversion (34 of 39), and he also missed six of his 13 field-goal attempts from 40-plus yards out for the Packers. It'll be interesting to see if the second-year kicker can correct those issues with his second lease on life in the NFL.

  • Anders Carlson: Joins Niners' practice squad

San Francisco signed Carlson to its practice squad Tuesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Carlson was waived by the Packers prior to the beginning of the regular season after a shaky rookie year in 2023, but at least on paper, he might have a chance to see game action in 2024 anyway. If both Jake Moody (ankle) and Matthew Wright (shoulder) are unable to suit up Sunday, Carlson could be elevated from the practice squad to serve as San Francisco's starting kicker versus the Chiefs.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: In danger of losing job?

Fellow kicker Greg Joseph has been more accurate than Carlson during open practices this summer, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. The Packers brought in veteran competition this offseason after Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick, missed seven field-goal attempts and six PATs in 19 games (including playoffs) during his rookie campaign. Joseph has made 29 of 31 kicks in practices open to reporters at training camp, while Carlson is 25-for-31. That said, Joseph was also far from spectacular last year, going 24-for-30 on field-goal attempts for the division-rival Vikings -- his third straight year missing at least five FGAs.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Errant end to rookie season

Carlson made two of three field-goal attempts and an extra point in Saturday's 24-21 loss to the 49ers. Carlson did not miss a kick over his first five games as a professional, but he misfired on six field-goal and five extra-point attempts before the regular season ended, and he tacked on one apiece during the playoffs, with his final miss proving particularly costly in a game Green Bay lost by three points. The Packers showed enough confidence in Carlson to draft him in the sixth round and hang onto him all season, but he will presumably face some sort of competition for his job leading up to the 2024 campaign.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Perfect in defeat

Carlson made two field goals and two extra points in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers. Carlson did not score more than eight points in any of his first 11 appearances, but he has now put up at least that many in three straight games. He will have his work cut out for him to extend the streak, as Green Bay's next opponent -- Carolina -- ceded only two field-goal attempts and one made field goal over its last four contests.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Kicking woes continue

Carlson made one of two field-goal attempts and two of three extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-20 victory over the Chargers. The rookie did not miss a kick over his first five games in the NFL, but he has now missed at least one attempt in four of five appearances. There has been no indication that Green Bay is considering changing kickers, but those who still have Carlson on their fantasy teams may want to, particularly with the Packers facing two teams -- the Lions and Chiefs -- in the next two weeks that have proven adept at limiting kicker production.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Ties season high in points

Carlson made two of three field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 20-3 victory over the Rams. The eight points Carlson put on the board tied his season high and were the most he has recorded since Week 1. He could have a few scoring opportunities again in Week 10 facing a Pittsburgh team that has allowed opposing kickers to attempt at least three field goals six times in eight games this season. However, he will head into that contest ranked 30th among placekickers with 48 points.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Opportunities remain minimal

Carlson made a 30-yard field goal and an extra point in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Vikings. Carlson made both kicks he attempted in Week 8, but as has been the case since Week 3, his opportunities to put points on the board were minimal. He will at least have the matchup on his side in Week 9, as the Packers face a Rams team that has been friendly to opposing kickers this season.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Misfires for first time

Carlson made one of two field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Broncos. Carlson began his professional career by making seven straight field-goal attempts, but that streak came to an end Sunday, as he missed a 43-yard try late in the first half. He did make a shorter attempt later in the game and remains perfect on his 12 extra-point attempts. Carlson's success rate remains viable, but he is averaging only six points per game through six appearances.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Remains perfect on season

Carlson made two field goals and an extra point in Monday's 17-13 loss to the Raiders. Carlson made two field goals for the second week in a row and is now a perfect 7-of-7 on field goals and 10-of-10 on extra points five games into his rookie season. While accuracy has not been an issue for Carlson, opportunity has been, and he has not put more than seven points on the scoreboard since recording eight points in Week 1.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Logs six points in loss

Carlson made a 33-yard field goal and all three extra points he attempted in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Falcons. Carlson fell a bit short of his Week 1 point total, both in the box score and in fantasy lineups, but he could have topped those marks had a penalty on Green Bay's opening drive not caused head coach Matt LaFleur to pass on a 56-yard field-goal attempt in favor of a punt. Carlson -- despite nailing a 52-yarder in Week 1 -- seemingly still has some trust to gain beyond 50 yards, but that should come with time, and he remains perfect two games into his rookie season.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Kicker heads to Green Bay

The Packers selected Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 207th overall. Carlson is the younger brother of Daniel Carlson, who is one of the NFL's best kickers for the Raiders. The younger Carlson heads for a somewhat colder climate, where the Packers will presumably consider him as the potential successor to Mason Crosby. Carlson struggled with his accuracy at times at Auburn but has a great deal of kicking experience.
