Top Jaylen Twyman News

  • Jets' Jaylen Twyman: Signed by Gang Green

The Jets signed Twyman to a contract Sunday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

The move comes with the Jets placing wide receiver Malik Taylor (undisclosed) on injured reserve. Twyman was a sixth-round selection by the Vikings in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has not played a single NFL snap. He was part of Miami's training camp in 2023 but did not make the Dolphins' 53-man roster and was not invited to their practice squad. Twyman will compete for a depth spot on the Jets' defensive line behind starters Quinnen Williams (shoulder) and Javon Kinlaw.

  • Vikings' Jaylen Twyman: Will begin offseason drills Monday

Twyman (pelvis) will begin offseason drills Monday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Twyman missed his entire rookie season on the non-football injury list while recovering from four gun-shot wounds suffered last June. The 2021 sixth-round pick opted out of the 2020 campaign while at Pittsburgh, but he totaled 10.5 sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss in 2019 and, if healthy, is expected to have an opportunity to carve out a sizable role along Minnesota's defensive front in 2022.

  • Jaylen Twyman: Waived by Vikings

The Vikings waived Twyman (pelvis) with a non-football injury designation Monday.

Minnesota is hoping that Twyman will clear waivers, in which case the team can stash him on the NFI list. The rookie sixth-round pick is recovering from four gunshot wounds that he suffered in June, but there's a chance he'll be able to play at some point this season.

  • Vikings' Jaylen Twyman: Could be available early on

Twyman (pelvis) is expected to begin training camp on the non-football injury list but is expected to be available early in the season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Two of the 22-year-old's four gunshot wounds have fully healed, though the wound to his pelvis is apparently still bothersome. Twyman should be placed on the NFI list in the coming days, but he's expected to make a full recovery and may not be sidelined for long.

  • Vikings' Jaylen Twyman: Could play this season

Twyman (undisclosed) will report to training camp Sunday and still has a chance to suit up this season, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Twyman is reportedly making encouraging progress in his recovery from gunshot wounds suffered June 21. The rookie sixth-round pick was able to avoid surgery in his recovery process, and the Vikings reportedly expect him to return to 100 percent health. That said, Minnesota could opt to have Twyman begin camp on the non-football injury list.
