  • Bengals' Brian Asamoah: Shifts to IR

Asamoah (knee) was placed on the injured reserve list Monday. The fourth-year pro from Oklahoma sustained a knee injury in the Bengals' Week 13 win over the Ravens, and it now appears serious enough to land him on IR. Asamoah has appeared in just four games for Cincinnati this season, failing to record a stat across 58 special-teams snaps. He'll now be forced to miss at least the team's next four games, with his earliest possible return coming in the Week 18 matchup against the Browns.

  • Bengals' Brian Asamoah: Won't return due to knee injury

Asamoah (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game against the Ravens. Asamoah injured his left knee during the first half of Thursday's game, and it is severe enough for the fourth-year linebacker to be sidelined for the rest of the contest. His absence won't impact the Bengals' defense, as he has played solely on special teams this season.

  • Bengals' Brian Asamoah: Signed from practice squad

The Bengals signed Asamoah from the practice squad to the active roster Monday. Asamoah was elevated off the practice squad for one game with Cincinnati earlier this season, when he played 19 snaps on special teams in Week 9 versus Chicago. He figures to contribute in a similar capacity for the team down the stretch, beginning Sunday on the road against Pittsburgh.

  • Titans' Brian Asamoah: Claimed by Tennessee

The Titans claimed Asamoah from waivers Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Asamoah was let go by the Vikings on Tuesday, but he won't need to enter free agency to catch on with another team after the Titans were awarded the 2022 third-round pick off waivers. He mostly served in a special teams role for Minnesota in 2024 and finished the regular season with six tackles (four solo) and one forced fumble across 17 games. With the Titans waiving Otis Reese, Asamoah brings depth to Tennessee's linebacker corps, but special teams will be the latter's clearest path to earning a spot on the 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August.

  • Vikings' Brian Asamoah: Gets limited time on defense

Asamoah had one total tackle and played on 13 of the defense's 67 snaps in Sunday's win over Houston. Asamoah didn't play on defense the first two games but got some playing time with Ivan Pace sidelined with a quad injury. He mostly gets his playing time on special teams as a backup interior linebacker.

More information on his status will likely be provided ahead of the Vikings' matchup with the Titans on Aug. 19. Once healthy, the 23-year-old is expected to start for Minnesota at interior linebacker in 2023.

  • Vikings' Brian Asamoah: Participates during OTAs

Asamoah (concussion) worked with the second-team defense during the Vikings' recent OTAs, Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated reports. Asamoah left with a concussion during Minnesota's 2023 wild-card loss to the Giants, but he has since had the offseason to move past the issue. The 2022 third-round pick played in 16 games during his rookie campaign, tallying 17 tackles and one forced fumble. The second-year linebacker may be competing with Troy Reeder for a starting linebacker role alongside Jordan Hicks, with the Vikings defense moving to a base 3-4 in 2023.
