Bengals' Andrei Iosivas: Limited to three catches Sunday

Iosivas brought in three of six targets for 26 yards in the Bengals' 16-10 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
The second-year wideout finished tied for first in targets and for second in receptions while also qualifying as the runner-up in receiving yards, but that overstates his overall production significantly. The entire Bengals' air attack was stuck in neutral for the most part against a surprisingly effective Patriots defense, and even the absence of Tee Higgins (hamstring) couldn't clear a path for a stronger performance for Iosivas, who could be similarly challenged to offer useful fantasy production in a Week 2 visit to the Chiefs next Sunday.

Tee Higgins (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 1 against the Patriots, and he's not expected to play. Ja'Marr Chase is listed as questionable, and we hope he's out there against New England. Iosivas should take on a bigger role with Higgins out, and he's worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in deeper leagues. He's had a strong training camp to earn the No. 3 receiver role, and hopefully, Joe Burrow leans on Iosivas in Week 1 without Higgins there. Moving forward, it's worth adding Iosivas (7 percent rostered) in case this injury lingers for Higgins.

Iosivas continues to turn heads in practice, and quarterback Joe Burrow has suggested that the receiver will have a big season, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
Iosivas looks like the Bengals' first choice as their No. 3 receiver, well ahead of highly touted rookie Jermaine Burton. That might flip over the course of the season, but Iosivas is the better bet to replicate Tyler Boyd's production.

But the Bengals have an opening behind those guys, and we'll see if Iosivas or rookie Jermaine Burton (16 percent) step up to be the No. 3 receiver this season. Burton has more upside if he gets playing time, but Iosivas might play more as the slot receiver early in the year.

Iosivas recorded his chunk play on the Bengals' opening possession, carrying over some of the momentum he's been building in training camp practices. The second-year wideout is thought to have a solid chance of securing the No. 3 receiver role long held by the departed Tyler Boyd, but rookie Jermaine Burton, who led Cincinnati's pass catchers with a 3-82-1 line Saturday, is expected to continue making a push for the job over the final two preseason games.

Bengals WRs coach Troy Walters recently said Iosivas is "probably No. 3" on the depth chart at the moment, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
With Ja'Marr Chase (contract) not practicing and Tee Higgins being eased in after missing the offseason program, a number of players are getting first-team WR reps early in training camp. Iosivas seems to be at the top of that list, including Wednesday when he exclusively worked from the slot. He doesn't fit the typical slot mold at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, but he'll need some level of comfort there in order to win the No. 3 job, even if Tyler Boyd's offseason departure leads to Chase playing inside more often. While Iosivas was limited to 15 catches and 266 snaps last season after the Bengals drafted him in the sixth round, there's no doubt he has sufficient raw physical tools to succeed in the NFL, having run a 4.43 40 at the 2023 Combine. Incoming third-round pick Jermaine Burton has similar speed (4.45 40) and faced SEC competition rather than Iosivas' Ivy League opponents at Princeton, but Burton isn't quite as big (6-foot, 196 pounds) and seems to be further down the depth chart at the start of training camp. Trenton Irwin and Charlie Jones may also be candidates for the No. 3 job.

Bengals' Andrei Iosivas: Two touchdowns in finale

Iosivas had five catches for 36 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals' Week 18 win over the Browns. He finished his rookie season with 15 catches for 116 yards and four touchdowns, on 25 targets.
Iosivas wasn't used downfield much if at all this season, averaging a depth of target of only 8.1 yards. The Bengals' wide receiver room could undergo significant changes this offseason, however, and that could change Iosivas's role. Tyler Boyd is a free agent, and the Bengals have to decide Tee Higgins's future as well.

Iosivas failed to record a single target in Sunday's 25-17 loss to the Chiefs.
After being targeted eight times in Week 16, Iosivas was a complete nonfactor Sunday. With fellow receiver Ja'Marr Chase returning to action following a shoulder injury, the rookie was relegated to a reserve role and played just 20 of the Bengals' 74 offensive snaps. Iosivas remains off the fantasy radar for a Week 18 matchup with the Browns.

Iosivas had one catch for five yards on 18 offensive snaps in Saturday's overtime win over the Vikings. He also made a game-saving fumble recovery on a punt return by Charlie Jones before the end of regulation.
Jones was blasted by his own blocker, who was shoved into him. Iosivas was aware enough to spring onto the fumble and prevent the Vikings from being in position to attempt a game-winning field goal. Iosivas could get more action next week if Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) sits out Saturday against the Steelers as anticipated.

It's not clear at this point when Iosivas sustained the knee injury or how severe it might be. The Bengals' injury reports Tuesday and Wednesday will paint a clearer picture of whether he'll be available for Thursday's game at Baltimore.

Iosivas caught his only target Sunday for a two-yard touchdown in the Bengals' win over the Niners.
Iosivas managed only 10 snaps with Tee Higgins close to being back at full capacity, but he's at least made an impact the last two weeks. Both of his scores have come on plays where Joe Burrow was able to buy time and have a "free play" due to a penalty on the defense, for what it's worth.
