The Jaguars waived Sargent on Monday.
Sargent will head to waivers despite signing a future/reserve contract with Jacksonville back in January, as the 25-year-old found himself buried on the depth chart following the signings of D'Ernest Johnson and Qadree Ollison. The 2021 undrafted free agent spent the entirety of last year on the Jaguars' practice squad, and the dual-threat running back now will look for another opportunity with a new team heading into next season.

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Sticks with Jacksonville
Rotowire
The Jaguars' signed Sargent to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Sargent landed a practice-squad deal with the Jaguars after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster to begin the season. He was never elevated for any contests, but with his new contract, he'll be able to stick around the organization and compete for a larger role during the offseason. The Iowa product made seven appearances for three different teams (Jaguars, Rams and Titans) during his rookie campaign in 2021, totaling 16 touches for 71 yards.

Mekhi Sargent: Let go by Jacksonville
Rotowire
The Jaguars waived Sargent on Tuesday.
Sargent appeared in seven games for three different teams (Jaguars, Rams and Titans) as a rookie in 2021 but failed to make a sizable impact. The Iowa running back displayed his dual-threat ability during the preseason, rushing 11 times for 41 yards while catching five of six targets for 30 yards. However, he still finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. It's possible the second-year running back returns to Jacksonville on a practice squad deal.

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Totals 57 scrimmage yards
Rotowire
Sargent had five carries for 22 yards and caught all five of his targets for 37 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Raiders.
Sargent led Jacksonville in both carries and receptions with the team's top weapons all sitting out the Hall of Fame Game. Snoop Conner currently is listed as the No. 3 running back behind Travis Etienne (illness) and James Robinson (Achilles), but Sargent may be the next man up, which could result in significant run during the preseason.

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Receives contract tender
Rotowire
The Jaguars have extended a contract tender to Sargent.
Sargent, who was claimed off waivers by the Jaguars from the Rams this past December, played in seven total games in 2021 en route to recording five carries for 11 yards. Looking ahead to the coming season, the 5-8, 208-pounder will look to compete for a depth role in a Jacksonville backfield that also includes James Robinson (Achilles) and Travis Etienne (foot).

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Receives one carry in finale
Rotowire
Sargent had one carry for two yards and failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts.
Sargent was inactive for his first game with Jacksonville after being claimed off waivers in late December, but he suited up and played two offensive snaps during the third quarter Week 18. The rookie UDFA out of Iowa will enter the offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, so he'll remain with the Jaguars if the team tenders him a contract.

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Healthy scratch Sunday
Rotowire
Sargent (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at New England.
Sargent was claimed off waivers from the Rams at the start of the week but won't be suiting up for his first game with the Jaguars. Nathan Cottrell is up from the practice squad to provide depth behind Dare Ogunbowale and Ryquell Armstead.

Jaguars' Mekhi Sargent: Claimed by Jags
Rotowire
Sargent was claimed off waivers by Jacksonville on Monday.
Sargent was waived by the Rams over the weekend but was quickly able to latch on with a new team. Jacksonville lost starting tailback James Robinson to a torn Achilles versus the Jets on Sunday, and Sargent should provide backfield depth in the wake of the injury. Dare Ogunbowale is the current favorite to take over as the Jaguars' top running back down the stretch.

Mekhi Sargent: Cut by L.A.
Rotowire
The Rams waived Sargent on Saturday.
Sargent is a roster casualty after the Rams activated two running backs from IR (Jake Funk and Buddy Howell) and another from the reserve/non-football injury list (Cam Akers) in recent days. In six appearances between the L.A. and Tennessee this season, Sargent racked up four carries for nine yards.

Rams' Mekhi Sargent: Signs with Rams
Rotowire
Sargent was signed to the Rams' active roster Wednesday.
Sargent was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's win over the Jaguars and rushed twice for five yards. He'll now serve as the Rams' No. 3 option at running back, but he's unlikely to have a significant role behind Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel.

Mekhi Sargent: Reverted to practice squad
Rotowire
Sargent was sent back to the Rams' practice squad Monday.
Sargent was elevated for Week 13 against the Jaguars, rushing the ball twice for five yards. With Darrell Henderson (thigh) active but not logging any snaps, Sargent played second-fiddle to Sony Michel, but he will no longer be needed going into Week 14.

Rams' Mekhi Sargent: Receives garbage-time looks
Rotowire
Sargent rushed twice for five yards during Sunday's 37-7 win over Jacksonville. He only played two offensive snaps.
The 24-year-old running back spelled Sony Michel at the end of the game in garbage time for his two rushes, so he was hardly a factor in the game plan. Additionally, once Darrell Henderson (thigh) is healthy, Sargent will likely be entirely uninvolved in the offense.

Mekhi Sargent: Joins Los Angeles' practice squad
Rotowire
Sargent signed with the Rams' practice squad Friday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Sargent has seen few opportunities on the field during his NFL career (two rushing attempts), and the 24-year-old running back figures to be a depth piece for the Rams in case of multiple injuries to their backfield.

Mekhi Sargent: Added to Titans' practice squad
Rotowire
Sargent was added to the Tennessee practice squad Tuesday.
The 24-year-old was waived from the team's active roster Saturday after being a healthy scratch the three weeks prior. Fellow running back Darrynton Evans returned to the active roster this past weekend, knocking Sargent down a peg to the practice squad.

Titans' Mekhi Sargent: Healthy scratch once again
Rotowire
Sargent (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, according to Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site.
Sargent has been a healthy scratch in each of the last two games, though his fantasy appeal wouldn't be too high even if he was available -- he's attempted just two carries this season, racking up four yards. His next chance to take the field will come Oct. 18 at home against Buffalo.

Titans' Mekhi Sargent: Cleared for Week 1
Rotowire
Sargent doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
The undrafted rookie out of Iowa earned a spot on the Week 1 roster, but he may be a healthy scratch or otherwise limited to special teams to start his career. Derrick Henry will continue handling the vast majority of carries in Tennessee, with Jeremy McNichols likely handling a backup role that includes work on passing downs. Sargent would be an occasional sub on early downs, at most, and he may even lose his roster spot if/when Darrynton Evans (knee) returns from injured reserve.

Titans' Mekhi Sargent: May have expanded opportunity
Rotowire
Sargent (undisclosed) could see opportunities early in the season in the absence of Darrynton Evans (knee), Mike Moraitis of Titans Wire reports.
Sargent signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent this spring and impressed enough throughout training camp and preseason action to make the roster. While that's a notable feat in itself, he could now also be in line for work as Derrick Henry's primary backup with Jeremy McNichols currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list and Evans set to miss at least the first three games of the regular season.

Titans' Mekhi Sargent: Finds end zone in start
Rotowire
Sargent carried the ball 17 times for 51 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for six yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Bears.
He punched the ball into the end zone from one yard out early in the second quarter for the game's first points. With Derrick Henry getting the entire preseason off, Sargent got the start in the final tuneup before Week 1 and made a solid case for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Henry and Darrynton Evans (leg), although Brian Hill (14 carries for 63 yards), fullback Khari Blasingame (62 combined yards) and even the newly signed Javian Hawkins (10 carries for 49 yards and a score) all put up comparable numbers Saturday. Whoever wins the job will need an injury to bell cow Henry to have a shot at any kind of fantasy value, however.
