  • Jaguars' Travon Walker: Records 10.0 sacks

Walker closed the 2023 regular season with 52 tackles (27 solo), 10.0 sacks and one fumble recovery in 17 games. The 2022 first overall pick had a quiet rookie campaign with just 3.5 sacks in 15 contests, but he took a major step forward as a sophomore this past season, finishing second on the team in sacks. Walker could be poised for a full breakout in 2024, though the status of top pass rusher Josh Allen -- who could leave Jacksonville as a free agent -- could affect how much attention Walker receives from opposing offenses.

That's twice as many as he posted in nearly as many defensive snaps as a rookie last year.

  • Jaguars' Travon Walker: Gets to the quarterback Sunday

Walker recorded six tackles, including a sack, in Sunday's 31-21 win at Indianapolis. Walker was arguably even more of a menace than his numbers would indicate, causing chaos in the Colts' backfield all afternoon. His sack came with 34 seconds to play in the first half when he stunned right tackle Braden Smith and then showed exceptional bend around the edge before bringing down 244-pound rookie Anthony Richardson with ease. He'll look to build on his great start to the season versus Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City in Week 2.

  • Jaguars' Travon Walker: Questionable to suit up Week 18

Walker (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's contest versus the Titans. Walker suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Week 14 win over Tennessee, forcing him to miss the following two games as well. The 2022 No. 1 overall pick was able to return and play 36 percent of defensive snaps Week 17 against Houston, though he was still limited in each practice during Week 18 prep. With Jacksonville playing for a playoff berth Week 18, it's likely Walker will make every effort to suit up for Saturday's regular-season finale.

  • Jaguars' Travon Walker: Taken first overall by Jacksonville

The Jaguars selected Walker in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, first overall. Walker's path to being the first overall pick is a unique one. He did not start a game until his junior season in 2021 and had a total of 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss over 36 appearances at Georgia. Prior to the combine, Walker was thought to be a first-round prospect, but not the top pick overall. Things changed in Indianapolis when Walker turned in an all-world workout that fully demonstrated his tools. He ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-5 and 272 pounds and measured in with 35.5-inch arms and an 84.25-inch wingspan. While Walker lacks the production variable that is usually a necessity to go first overall, his undeniable athleticism and power made him a viable candidate. Now that he's in Jacksonville, Walker can step into a Day 1 role at defensive end. With the right development, Walker can evolve into a game-wrecking presence up front provided he can develop as a pass-rusher.
