However, he ended the 2021 campaign with an ankle injury and is slated to vie with fellow defensive linemen Breiden Fehoko and Forrest Merrill this summer.

Gaziano spent six days in COVID protocols and missed the Chargers' game against the Texans on Sunday. Now that he's cleared protocols, he can return to his rotational role on the Chargers' defensive line.

    Gaziano (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Gaziano tested positive for COVID, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports. He's appeared in 13 games for the Chargers this season in a rotational role on their defensive line. Gaziano could still compete Sunday against the Texans if he is able to produce two negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
