Norris entering the offseason set to be an exclusive rights free agent and he was able to reach a deal with the Panthers. The 25-year-old played only three games in 2018 and typically serves in a special teams role.
Norris (toe) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Norris sustained the toe injury at practice last week and did not play against the Giants on Sunday. He'll now require surgery to rectify the issue. Thomas Davis returns from his four-game suspension and will take his place on the 53-man roster.
Norris injured his toe at Friday's practice, and it is serious enough to keep him sidelined Sunday. Primarily a special teams contributer, his absence at linebacker does not figure to impact things defensively for the Panthers.
Norris (calf) is participating in training camp, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Norris spent the final month of the 2017 season on injured reserve with a calf injury. The linebacker seems to be healthy now and will compete for a depth role at linebacker.
