  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Ready to rock

Goodrow (ankle) is expected to make his preseason debut Friday against New Jersey, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports. Goodrow has been dealing with an ankle injury, but it looks like he's now back to 100 percent. He's expected to skate on the second line versus the Devils on Friday.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Skating on his own Saturday

Goodrow (ankle) won't practice Saturday, but he did skate on his own, per Arthur Staple of The Athletic. The plan is for Goodrow to join the Rangers for Sunday's practice. He's been working his way back from this injury since the start of training camp, but based on his progress it wouldn't be surprising if he's ultimately available for the season opener.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Will be limited in camp

Goodrow is still working his way back from an ankle injury and will not participate in any scrimmages at the onset of camp, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports Wednesday. Goodrow is coming off a career-best season in which he set new personal highs in goals (13), assists (20) and average ice time (16:43). The fact that Goodrow is still able to practice with the team would seem to indicate that he will be available in time for Opening Night against the Lightning.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Earns helper in second game back

Goodrow logged an assist and blocked three shots in Monday's 6-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 7. Goodrow missed 11 games with a lower-body injury, but he's been back for two contests, and the Rangers have won both of them. He's picked up seven blocked shots, three hits, a plus-1 rating and one assist, which came on an Andrew Copp empty-net goal Monday. Goodrow will be a key part of the Rangers' defensive structure going forward. He'll be going against a familiar foe in the Eastern Conference Finals, as the 29-year-old won the Stanley Cup in each of the last two seasons with the Lightning, who are the Rangers' next playoff opponent.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Appears set to return

Goodrow (lower body) took line rushes in warmups, indicating he'll play Saturday's Game 6 versus the Hurricanes, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. Goodrow has missed 11 games with the injury he suffered in the first game of the playoffs. The 29-year-old is expected to return in a fourth-line role, so he'll likely be eased back into action after the lengthy absence. Kevin Rooney will exit the lineup to account for Goodrow's return.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Could return during series

Goodrow (lower body) hasn't been ruled out for the entire Round 2 series versus the Hurricanes but is still using crutches and a walking boot, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports Monday. Goodrow was injured during Game 1 versus the Penguins on May 3 and appears no closer to getting back on the ice for the Rangers. The winger is currently mired in a 24-game goal drought but has generated nine assists over the stretch. If given the all-clear, Goodrow should be in line for a bottom-six role where he figures to offer solid mid-range fantasy value.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Out week-to-week

Goodrow (lower body) is considered week-to-week, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. It's unclear when Goodrow suffered the injury during Tuesday's triple-overtime loss, but it's apparently a significant one. With the forward sidelined for likely multiple games, Dryden Hunt should get the first chance to maintain a place in the lineup.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Not available Thursday

Goodrow (undisclosed) won't play in Thursday's Game 2 versus the Penguins, Dan Rosen of reports. Goodrow played 20:42 of ice time in Tuesday's triple-overtime loss, and it appears he sustained an injury in that contest. Dryden Hunt will likely draw into a bottom-six role to replace Goodrow, who will set his sights on returning for Saturday's Game 3 in Pittsburgh.

Goodrow had two assists -- one shorthanded -- in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Montreal. Goodrow capitalized on a move up to the top line with the Rangers resting a number of key regulars. Goodrow collected two assists in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Red Wings. Both helpers came on Alexis Lafreniere tallies in the third period. Goodrow has back-to-back two-point performances, but on the season the 29-year-old grinder has just 13 goals and 30 points through 73 games.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Two helpers Wednesday

Goodrow collected two assists, one short-handed, in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Flyers. The former Shark and Lightning winger has only two helpers in his prior 15 games, but Goodrow matched that total Wednesday. He does have a career-high 13 goals and 28 points through 72 contests this season while adding 109 shots, 116 hits and a plus-12 rating, but his spot in the bottom six limits his fantasy utility.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Adds late goal

Goodrow scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Stars. Goodrow netted an insurance tally in the third period. He's been reasonably steady with three goals in his last nine games, but he's cooled off from his best play from early January. The 29-year-old has 13 goals and 24 points through 56 appearances while adding 85 shots, 97 hits and 40 PIM in a middle-six role.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Misfires at yawning cage

Goodrow had three shots and a minus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Blues. Goodrow had a chance to score his 12th goal as a Ranger into an empty net from just outside the St. Louis blue line, but his shot attempt went wide. The versatile forward moves up from the bottom six to a more prominent role whenever the Rangers are protecting a late lead, but Goodrow isn't a reliable source of offense; his last multi-point game came Jan. 3.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Finds twine in loss

Goodrow lit the lamp in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Goodrow crashed the net and managed a chip-shot goal upon receiving a quick pass from prized rookie Braden Schneider. With nine goals and 10 assists through 41 games, Goodrow should be able to surpass his previous career high in points (26) set between the Sharks and Lightning in the 2019-20 campaign.

The 28-year-old Goodrow has been effective on offense lately with three goals and three assists in his last five appearances. The versatile forward continues to play in a top-six role with Artemi Panarin (COVID-19 protocols) out. Goodrow is up to 17 points, 44 shots, 23 PIM, 70 hits and a plus-7 rating through 36 outings overall.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Adds two points in win

Goodrow scored a goal, dished an assist and went plus-3 in Monday's 4-1 win over the Oilers. Goodrow's second-period tally stood as the game-winner, and he also had a hand in Ryan Strome's insurance goal in the third. The 28-year-old Goodrow has found a groove lately with three goals and two assists during a three-game point streak. The Ontario native is up to 16 points, 39 shots on net, 63 hits, 21 PIM, a plus-6 rating and 27 blocked shots in 34 contests this year. He should continue to see important minutes as a defensive forward in a middle-six role.

  • Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Nets pair in shootout win

Goodrow scored two goals, including one while shorthanded, in Friday's 4-3 shootout win over the Lightning. Goodrow gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the second period with his shortie, and he tipped in another goal at even strength in the third. The 28-year-old had a tough December with four points in 12 contests. He's up to six tallies, 13 points, 37 shots on net, 61 hits and 21 PIM through 32 games overall. With a bottom-six assignment at even strength and minimal power-play time, Goodrow shouldn't be expected to turn up the pace on offense.
