  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Makes preseason debut

Ritchie (upper body) played in Saturday's preseason game versus the Blues. Ritchie ended last season with an upper-body injury, but he was back in action Saturday. The 26-year-old winger figures to play a middle-six role for the Coyotes in 2022-23, though his physical playing style has often caused him to sit out with injuries throughout his career.

  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Finishes season sidelined

Ritchie (upper body) missed the last six games of the season. Ritchie's roller-coaster year began in Toronto, where he posted just nine points in 33 contests in a limited role. He bounced to and from the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate before he was traded to the Coyotes in February. The results were much better with his new team -- 10 goals and four assists in 24 games -- as he saw top-six minutes before suffering the injury. The 26-year-old winger is likely not as bad as he was in Toronto nor as good as the early returns in Arizona would indicate. He's under contract for another season and could see a noticeable role with the Coyotes again as they continue through their rebuild, though any prolonged slump could see him sit out in favor of younger prospects.

  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Late scratch Wednesday

Ritchie (upper body) was scratched from the lineup Wednesday versus the Blackhawks. Ritchie was listed on the initial lineup sheet, but he was a late scratch and replaced by Michael Carcone for this contest. The Coyotes designated Ritchie as day-to-day going forward. They now have only 11 healthy forwards on the roster unless one is cleared to play prior to Friday's game versus the Capitals.

  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Goal in defeat

Ritchie recorded a goal and four hits in Monday's 5-3 loss to Carolina. That's now goals in back-to-back games for Ritchie. In 24 games with Arizona, the 26-year-old winger now has 10 goals and four assists after recording only nine points in 33 games with Toronto. While the change of scenery has granted Ritchie more offensive opportunities, it'll be hard to expect consistent point production in a bottom-six role.

Ritchie scored a goal on two shots and went minus-3 in Saturday's 9-1 loss to the Flames. The 26-year-old winger has a goal, two helpers, nine shots and 16 hits in his last six outings. For the season, he's up to 11 tallies, 22 points, 91 shots, 149 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-13 rating through 56 appearances between the Coyotes and the Maple Leafs.

  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Receives one-game suspension

Ritchie was suspended one game for slashing Kevin Shattenkirk in Friday's game versus the Ducks. The Coyotes didn't take kindly to getting shut out 5-0, and Ritchie's actions were deemed to have crossed the line. He'll miss Sunday's game versus the Blackhawks, but he should be back in the lineup Monday versus the Blues. Given the Coyotes' injury situation, they may recall a forward before Sunday's contest.

  • Coyotes' Nick Ritchie: Making Arizona debut Friday

Ritchie (immigration issues) will make his Coyotes debut Friday against visiting Vegas, Arizona Coyotes Insider Craig Morgan reports. Ritchie was forced to miss three games after being traded from Toronto on Feb. 19, primarily due to issues relating to a U.S. work permit. He signed a two-year, $5 million contract last July, so he'll be with the Coyotes for another season after this one. The 26-year-old is expected to join the Coyotes' roster right away, and he could compete for a middle-six role once he links up with the team.
