Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Returns to taxi squad
Ritchie was assigned to the taxi squad Thursday, per CapFriendly.
Ritchie has a goal in his last four games since he was brought back to the active roster after getting waived. The 26-year-old will still have to compete for playing time, though he could be back on the active roster for Saturday's game versus the Blues.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Hopes to prove worth
Ritchie scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 5-4 overtime loss to Colorado.
It was sweet vindication for Ritchie, who was put on waivers this week. He has struggled to find his groove in Toronto but was in the right spot on the power play to tap in a Wayne Simmonds backhand pass. The point was his first in over a month, and Ritchie now has nine points, including two goals, in 31 games.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Waived by Toronto
Ritchie was waived by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Ritchie has been somewhat disappointing for the Leafs this season, having tallied just eight points while posting a minus-5 rating through 30 contests, so this move doesn't come as a complete surprise. The 26-year-old forward has 380 games of NHL experience under his belt, so there's a chance he'll get claimed off waivers. If not, look for Ritchie to head to Toronto's taxi squad.... See More ... Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Garners power-play helper
Ritchie produced a power-play assist and went minus-2 in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Jets.
Ritchie has assists in three straight games and five of the last seven, but he's still searching for his first goal as a Maple Leaf. The 26-year-old has secured seven helpers (three on the power play), 39 shots on net, 61 hits, 19 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 26 contests. Without much offense, Ritchie isn't a particularly helpful wing option in fantasy.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Hands out assist in win
Ritchie managed an assist, five hits and four PIM in Friday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.
Ritchie helped out on a Wayne Simmonds goal at 5:16 of the first period, which stood as the game-winner. The 25-year-old Ritchie has been vastly inconsistent on offense with four assists in 22 games. He's added 54 hits, 35 shots on goal and 19 PIM while typically playing in a bottom-six role after struggling early in the season.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Logs helper Sunday
Ritchie produced an assist and three hits in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Islanders.
Ritchie helped out on an Ondrej Kase goal in the third period. The 25-year-old Ritchie has moved all around the lineup in an effort to get his offense going, but he has just three assists through 20 games. He's added a solid physical element with 46 hits and 13 PIM, but he hasn't maintained enough scoring form to earn a more prominent role.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Should start season on top line
Ritchie appears to have earned a top-line role heading into 2021-22 and skated there at practice Tuesday, per Kristen Shilton of TSN.
Ritchie has strong connections with coach Sheldon Keefe dating back to his OHL days with the Soo Greyhounds. But he has never been a top-line winger in the NHL, let alone a top-six forward. Ritchie has never scored 20 goals or topped 40 points, but this is a plum chance to do both. Ritchie, who is 6-foot-3 and 236 pounds, doesn't always use his size. But playing with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner means there will be juicy rebounds and tasty feeds, and open ice with opponents keying on Ritchie's linemates. He's worth snagging, but be ready to drop him if the pride of Orangeville, Ontario shows nothing more than what history might predict.... See More ... See Less
Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Heading to Toronto
Ritchie signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
After spending the previous seasons with the rival Bruins, Ritchie should help replace some of the puck retrieval skills Toronto lost when Zach Hyman walked in free agency. While Ritchie doesn't possess Hyman's scoring touch, the big-bodied winger is excellent at screening the goalie and could earn a prominent role on Toronto's high-powered power play. Among Ritchie's 15 goals in 56 games last season, five came with the extra man.... See More ... See Less
Nick Ritchie: Becomes free agent
Ritchie will hit the open market after not receiving a qualifying offer from Boston on Monday.
This comes as a bit of a surprise after Ritchie racked up 15 goals and 26 points with the Bruins last season. The 25-year-old averaged a career-high 15:22 of ice time and racked up 102 hits. Boston could look to re-sign Ritchie before Wednesday but he'll certainly draw interest around the league as an unrestricted free agent.... See More ... See Less

Ritchie posted an assist, two shots on goal and four PIM in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders in Game 2.
Ritchie set up Charlie Coyle for the opening tally just 2:38 into the game. Through seven games, Ritchie has provided decent depth scoring with four points and a plus-1 rating in seven contests. He's added 10 PIM and 21 hits as a physical presence in the middle six.... See More ... See Less
Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Strikes for power-play goal
Ritchie scored a power-play goal and added four hits in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals in Game 1.
Ritchie deflected a David Pastrnak shot from the left circle, and the puck just barely crossed the goal line to tie the game at 2-2. The 25-year-old Ritchie enjoyed a productive year with 26 points (nine on the power play) in 56 contests. He'll continue to get ice time with the Bruins' best players on the top power-play unit as a net-front presence. The winger added 102 hits and 37 PIM, so he'll also supply a physical edge.... Ritchie scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.
With the Bruins down 2-1 in the third period, Ritchie got to work, scoring the tying tally early in the frame before helping set up Craig Smith for the winner. Ritchie hadn't found the scoresheet in eight straight games coming into Saturday and had only one point, a goal, in his prior 12, so a repeat performance may not be coming any time soon. On the season, the 25-year-old has nine goals and 17 points through 30 contests.... See More ... See Less
