Top Nick Ritchie News

  • Maple Leafs' Nick Ritchie: Heading to Toronto

Ritchie signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

After spending the previous seasons with the rival Bruins, Ritchie should help replace some of the puck retrieval skills Toronto lost when Zach Hyman walked in free agency. While Ritchie doesn't possess Hyman's scoring touch, the big-bodied winger is excellent at screening the goalie and could earn a prominent role on Toronto's high-powered power play. Among Ritchie's 15 goals in 56 games last season, five came with the extra man.

  • Nick Ritchie: Becomes free agent

Ritchie will hit the open market after not receiving a qualifying offer from Boston on Monday.

This comes as a bit of a surprise after Ritchie racked up 15 goals and 26 points with the Bruins last season. The 25-year-old averaged a career-high 15:22 of ice time and racked up 102 hits. Boston could look to re-sign Ritchie before Wednesday but he'll certainly draw interest around the league as an unrestricted free agent.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Pockets assist in overtime loss

Ritchie posted an assist, two shots on goal and four PIM in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders in Game 2.

Ritchie set up Charlie Coyle for the opening tally just 2:38 into the game. Through seven games, Ritchie has provided decent depth scoring with four points and a plus-1 rating in seven contests. He's added 10 PIM and 21 hits as a physical presence in the middle six.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Strikes for power-play goal

Ritchie scored a power-play goal and added four hits in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals in Game 1.

Ritchie deflected a David Pastrnak shot from the left circle, and the puck just barely crossed the goal line to tie the game at 2-2. The 25-year-old Ritchie enjoyed a productive year with 26 points (nine on the power play) in 56 contests. He'll continue to get ice time with the Bruins' best players on the top power-play unit as a net-front presence. The winger added 102 hits and 37 PIM, so he'll also supply a physical edge.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Breaks ice Monday

Ritchie scored a goal on two shots and added a pair of hits in Monday's 3-0 win over New Jersey.

Ritchie opened the scoring 9:08 into the second period, sneaking a one-timer just inside the near post from the right faceoff circle. It was Ritchie's 14th goal of the season, matching the career high he established as a sophomore in 2016-17 with Anaheim.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Lights lamp for first time in April

Ritchie picked up a goal on two shots in a 5-1 win over Buffalo on Thursday.

Ritchie joined a rush late and tucked a short-side shot past Buffalo netminder Dustin Tokarski to give the Bruins a 4-1 lead 6:01 into the third period. It was Ritchie's 11th goal of the year but first in the last 13 games, a dry spell that began when the calendar flipped to April.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Two helpers in Saturday's win

Ritchie picked up two assists in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Penguins.

He set up both of David Pastrnak's goals on the afternoon. Ritchie has two goals and five points in the last five games, and on the season the 25-year-old now has 10 goals and 20 points through 34 contests.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Sparks comeback win

Ritchie scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.

With the Bruins down 2-1 in the third period, Ritchie got to work, scoring the tying tally early in the frame before helping set up Craig Smith for the winner. Ritchie hadn't found the scoresheet in eight straight games coming into Saturday and had only one point, a goal, in his prior 12, so a repeat performance may not be coming any time soon. On the season, the 25-year-old has nine goals and 17 points through 30 contests.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Notches pair of points

Ritchie scored a power-play goal and supplied an assist in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Flyers.

Ritchie set up the go-ahead goal by David Pastrnak in the second period. Later in the frame, Ritchie tallied the Bruins' sixth goal of the game and the third in a span of 1:39 to take full control of the contest. The 25-year-old winger has impressed in a second-line role with six scores, 13 points, 37 shots on net and 23 hits through 16 games.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Breaks scoreless deadlock

Ritchie registered a goal and tied for the team lead with six shots in a 1-0 win over the Rangers on Friday.

Ritchie scored the game's only goal midway through the second period when he drove wide in the Rangers' zone and slipped a backhander past Igor Shesterkin from along the goal line. It was Ritchie's fifth goal of the year, but his first in the month of February. The 25-year-old, in his first full season with the Bruins, is enjoying a productive start with 10 points in 13 games.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Stays hot with helper

Ritchie notched a power-play assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers.

Ritchie played a part in the Bruins' third-period comeback, earning the secondary assist on David Pastrnak's tally at 12:05 of the third. The 25-year-old Ritchie has already amassed four goals, five assists, 25 shots on net and 13 hits in 10 outings this year. He's skating on the second line with David Krejci at even strength, but it's a net-front role on the first power-play unit that boosts Ritchie's fantasy value the most. Don't expect him to produce at this rate all year, but he could challenge his career high of 31 points from 2018-19 if his offense doesn't fall apart completely.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Notches eighth point

Ritchie recorded an assist and four shots in Monday's 5-3 win over the Capitals.

Ritchie, who logged 18:33 worth of ice time (including 4:28 on the power play), now has four goals and eight points in nine games to date. Though not the Bruins' swiftest skater, the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder has provided the team with a big-bodied net front presence that has led to Ritchie notching four goals and six points in man-advantage situations. After making a modest impact last season once he was acquired from the Ducks last February, Ritchie is off to a nice start this season, which has been a big boost to Boston's forward corps, which has dealt with injuries to several key players out of the gate.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Two-point night

Ritchie scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 5-4 shootout win over the Flyers.

His goal came on the power play, a place where he saw 2:31 in ice time. That's a tiny bit more than Patrice Bergeron played on the PP. Ritchie's fantasy value will indeed grow if the pride of Orangeville can keep this up. He now has three points (two goals, one assist) in four games.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Skates on third line

Ritchie is in line to skate on a line with Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith when the Bruins play New Jersey on Thursday, Eric Russo of the Bruins' official site reports.

In his first full season with the Bruins since being acquired from the Ducks last February, Ritchie will look to cement his role on the team's third line, a trio that brings a nice blend of size, strength and skill to the table. If the 25-year-old ends up seeing work on the team's second power-play unit, he could emerge as a fantasy option in deeper formats, but for now Ritchie carries modest upside on that front.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Ready for upcoming season

Ritchie (undisclosed) was left off Bruins President Cam Neely's injury report Monday, per Conor Ryan of

Ritchie missed the final game of the season due to his undisclosed issue. After joining Boston at the trade deadline, Ritchie saw action in seven regular-season contests before the shutdown, in which he garnered one goal on eight shots, one assist and 19 PIM while averaging 12:49. Depending on the health of Brad Marchand (groin), Ritchie could get a look at a more prominent role during training camp.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Out Monday

Ritchie (undisclosed) will not be available for Game 5 against Tampa Bay on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Ritchie has a goal and 17 hits in four games against the Lightning this series. It's unclear why he's unfit to play Monday, but it could be related to him missed three games last series against the Hurricanes.

Ritchie will be a game-time call in Game 5 versus the Lightning on Monday due to an undisclosed issue, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports.

After missing the final three contests of the series versus Carolina, Ritchie grabbed one goal, five shots and 17 hits in four games against the Lightning. With Chris Wagner (undisclosed) unavailable, the Bruins could be forced to dig into the depths of their squad, including Jack Studnicka and Anders Bjork.

  • Bruins' Nick Ritchie: Gets things started in Game 2

Ritchie scored a goal on three shots and provided three hits Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay in Game 2.

It was the first goal of the postseason for the 24-year-old, who was acquired at the trade deadline from Anaheim. Ritchie saw just 12:12 of ice time in his bottom-six role and isn't counted upon to contribute offensively.
