  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Considered day-to-day

Peterka (concussion) is day-to-day ahead of Thursday's matchup with Los Angeles, WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. Peterka was on the ice for just 1:39 against the Devils on Saturday before being forced to leave the game due to his concussion. If Peterka is cleared ahead of Thursday's contest, he should remain in a first-line role with Tage Thompson while also seeing minutes with the man advantage.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Suffers upper-body injury

Peterka suffered an upper-body injury in the first period Saturday versus New Jersey and will not return. Peterka took a big hit from Brenden Dillon in the neutral zone and stayed down for a while before leaving the ice. Dillon received a minor for interference and a five-minute major for fighting after Alex Tuch came to the defense of Peterka. The Sabres will leave Prague after the game and more information may not be available until Buffalo returns home. Peterka started the game on the top line alongside Tage Thompson and Tuch before being replaced by Jordan Greenway following his exit.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Snags assist Friday

Peterka logged an assist, two shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Devils in Prague. Peterka is a breakout candidate this year after producing 50 points (seven on the power play) despite the Sabres' down year as a team in 2023-24. While they lost their 2024-25 regular-season opener, Peterka was able to contribute by setting up Owen Power's third-period goal. Peterka is getting the first chance to fill the vacancy on the top line created by the Sabres' buyout of Jeff Skinner over the summer, and that spot alongside Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch could be a fruitful one.

Peterka scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 4-1 win over Calgary. Peterka scored his 24th goal of the campaign, bringing him into a tie with Jeff Skinner for the team lead, although Peterka's played eight more games. He's putting together an impressive run in his second full season.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Two goals in lopsided defeat

Peterka scored a pair of goals in Thursday's 8-3 loss to the Oilers. Peterka opened the scoring 1:38 into the first period, picking up a loose puck in the slot before beating Stuart Skinner with a wrister. Peterka added another tally late in the second to put the Sabres ahead 3-2 before Edmonton responded with six unanswered goals. It's the first multi-point game since Feb. 13 for the 22-year-old Peterka -- he'd logged just two goals and five points in his previous 18 contests. He's up to 23 goals and 43 points through 71 games this season.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Sets career mark in points

Peterka scored two goals Saturday in a 5-2 win over San Jose. He was J.J. on the spot on his first goal, stuffing in a rebound after Kaapo Kahkonen stopped Dylan Cozens' wraparound. Cozens set Peterka up in the third period for a one-timer from the right circle on a 3-on-2. Peterka's two-goal performance Saturday gives him a career-high 34 points through 49 games this season. He delivered 32 points in 77 games during his 2022-23 rookie campaign. The play of Peterka has been a bright spot for the Sabres this season.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Three points in comeback win

Peterka scored twice on four shots, added an assist and went plus-4 in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Kings. This was Peterka's best game of the season, as he scored the Sabres' first two goals before setting up Dylan Cozens for an insurance marker. Peterka hadn't earned a multi-point effort since Nov. 19. The winger has produced seven points over 10 outings in January, offering steady offense in a middle-six role. He's at 16 goals, 16 assists, 128 shots on net and a plus-6 rating through 48 contests, production that's roughly in line with what he did over 77 outings last season.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Rocking four-game, five-point run

Peterka scored a goal in the first period of Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to Washington. This guy is hot. Peterka has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in his last 12 games and extended his point streak to four games (two goals, three assists). At this rate, Peterka will double his 32-point season from 2022-23. The 20-year-old winger is tied with Casey Mittelstadt for second in team scoring with 15 points, one behind Rasmus Dahlin. Peterka's eight goals tie him with Jeff Skinner for the team lead.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Supplies two helpers vs. Chicago

Peterka registered two assists in a 3-2 win over Chicago on Sunday. Peterka's second helper was recorded on the power play. He's up to seven goals and 14 points in 18 outings this season, including two points with the man advantage. While Sunday was a positive night for him overall, it's a little concerning that Peterka logged just 14:35 of ice time, which is his lowest total since Oct. 27. Peterka averaged only 13:22 over his first eight contests this campaign, and his offensive production reflected that modest role (three goals, no assists), but the 21-year-old supplied four goals and nine points while averaging 16:53 TOI over nine appearances from Oct. 29-Nov. 17. If his role declines again, his scoring might begin to take a hit, too, but Sunday's game alone isn't enough to constitute a trend.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Two points including GWG

Peterka scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Friday's 3-2 win over the Wild. The 21-year-old sprung Jeff Skinner for a breakaway goal in the final minute of the second period to give the Sabres a 2-1 lead, then Peterka potted the eventual game-winner early in the third as he tapped home a slick feed from the behind the net by Tage Thompson. Peterka produced a solid 12 goals and 32 points in 77 games as a rookie last season, but the 2020 second-round pick appears headed for a breakout 2023-24 campaign with six goals -- including two game winners -- and 10 points in 14 contests.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Nabs helper Friday

Peterka managed an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Flyers. Peterka extended his point streak to four games (two goals, two assists), and he's added 10 shots on net in that span. The winger is getting a top-line look at even strength since Alex Tuch started the season slow alongside Tage Thompson. Peterka is up to six points, 24 shots and a plus-1 rating through 11 contests, offering some upside in scoring-only fantasy formats.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Two helpers Friday

Peterka collected two assists in Friday's 5-4 win over the Devils. Both helpers came in the first period as the Sabres jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the 11-minute mark and chased Akira Schmid from the game. Peterka has three multi-point performances in his last seven games, and the 21-year-old has been clicking on a kid line with the 22-year-old Dylan Cozens and the 21-year-old Jack Quinn. Despite his meager totals on the season (nine goals and 29 points through 66 games), Peterka could provide fantasy rosters with a late boost for the stretch run.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Scratched Friday

Peterka is a healthy scratch Friday against the Flyers, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Peterka has five points over his last four games and it's a bit surprising that he's being scratched. Victor Olofsson will skate on the second line in his absence. It's unclear if Peterka will be back in the lineup Sunday against Boston.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Two assists in win

Peterka logged a pair of helpers in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Peterka set up Jack Quinn's tally in the second period before assisting Dylan Cozens in the third. Peterka now has four assists over his last three games, though he's tallied just one goal in his last 33 contests. The 21-year-old rookie has eight goals and 17 assists through 62 games this season. While his production has been inconsistent, Peterka is worth monitoring while playing alongside Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn on Buffalo's second line.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Shifted down to minors

Peterka was reassigned to AHL Rochester on Thursday. Peterka figured to be the odd man out of the lineup against the Islanders on Thursday, so the Sabres processed a paper move to allow them to recall starter Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen from the minors. The 21-year-old Peterka is unlikely to actually report to AHL Rochester and should continue to practice with the Sabres instead. He could be officially added back onto the roster as early as Friday.

  • Sabres' John-Jason Peterka: Puts up assist

Peterka logged an assist in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Predators. Peterka was a healthy scratch for the last two games amid a stretch where he produced just two helpers in nine appearances. He took it well and made an impact in his return to the lineup Saturday, setting up Dylan Cozens' second-period tally. Peterka has 18 points, 60 shots on net, 20 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 39 outings as a rookie this season. He'll likely continue to see middle-six minutes, though if he slumps again, he could receive another trip to the press box.

The rookie winger's tally tied the game at 2-2 early in the second period after the Sabres' rough start. Peterka is connecting well with fellow youngsters Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn on the Sabres' second line. For the season, Peterka has six goals, eight assists, 38 shots, 12 PIM and a plus-3 rating in 25 outings.

Peterka notched an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Red Wings. Peterka set up the second of Dylan Cozens' two goals in the contest.
