Giordano signed a two-year, $1.6 million deal with Toronto on Sunday. After spending 15 years with the Flames, Giordano suited up for Seattle and Toronto this season, totaling eight goals and 35 points while averaging 20:53 of ice time through 75 games. He took a bit of a hometown discount to stay in Toronto as he prepares to enter his age-39 season. Giordano will likely quarterback the team's second power-play unit again next year while skating in a bottom-four role.... See More ... See Less

Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Pending UFA wants to contend
Giordano, who picked up two points in seven playoff games and is a pending unrestricted free agent, loved his time in Toronto and wants to "be on a team that I believe can win," reports TSN.ca. Giordano hopes to play a couple more years, and the Leafs would love to have him -- but at a "hometown discount" rate given their cap issues. Giordano was a solidifying presence on the Leafs' back end upon his arrival, and with the team in a win-now window, he could be part of their future.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Slides another assist
Giordano registered an assist and three shots on goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Islanders. Giordano set up Mitch Marner's first-period tally. With a goal and five helpers in his last six games, Giordano has started to settle in nicely with the Maple Leafs. The 38-year-old defenseman has picked up 32 points, 143 shots on net, 124 blocked shots and a minus-15 rating in 69 appearances between the Leafs and the Kraken this season. He's seen a smaller role with the Maple Leafs, but their stronger offense as a team has helped revive his production.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Big three-point effort carries win
Giordano scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in a 5-4 overtime win over Ottawa on Saturday. William Nylander fed a stretch pass to Gio, who carried it into the left wing dot and then wired it short side past Anton Forsberg for the win at 3:26 of OT. Giordano played 21:29 and also finished plus-3 with three shots, two hits and two blocked shots. It was a great night for the veteran, who stabilizes the Toronto blue line with his tremendous calm and leadership.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: First goal with new team
Giordano scored his first goal with Toronto in a 7-3 win over Winnipeg on Thursday. He also picked up an assist. Giordano got the Leafs on the board at 15:03 of the first period when his shot from the left face-off dot went off two Jets' defenders and past Eric Comrie. Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Dealt to Maple Leafs
Seattle traded Giordano and Colin Blackwell to the Maple Leafs in exchange for two second-round draft picks and a third-round draft pick Sunday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. Giordano spent the first 15 years of his career with the Flames before he was selected by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The veteran blueliner is averaging 21:29 of ice time with 98 blocked shots and 23 points through 55 games this season. He'll provide the Maple Leafs with quality top-four minutes and will likely quarterback the team's second power-play unit. Giordano will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.... See More ... Kraken's Mark Giordano: Scratched Wednesday
Giordano will not be in the lineup against the Lightning on Wednesday, Andy Eide of NHL.com reports. It seems Giordano is on the trading block as the team holds him out of action in order to prevent him from picking up an injury. The blueliner is in the final year of a six-year, $40.5 million contract signed back in August of 2015, making him a prime rental option for playoff teams. Wherever Giordano ends up, he should be in contention to link up with the No. 1 power-play unit and remains a top-half fantasy target.... See More ... See Less -
Kraken's Mark Giordano: Scores shorthanded again
Giordano scored a shorthanded goal on three shots, added two PIM and logged two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Bruins. Giordano atoned for an early penalty with a tally, as he stayed on to kill another penalty after exiting the sin bin. The 38-year-old has scored a shorthanded goal in two of the last three games. He's up to six goals, 23 points, 104 shots on net, 91 blocked shots, 42 hits, 37 PIM and a minus-20 rating in 48 outings overall.... See More ... See Less -

Giordano has recorded helpers in each of the last three contests, and he's distributed 10 assists in his last 14 outings. The 38-year-old had the secondary apple on Jordan Eberle's third-period equalizer Thursday, though the Kraken fell short of forcing overtime. Giordano is up to four tallies, 17 assists, 95 shots on net, 82 blocks and a minus-16 rating in 44 contests. As long as he's playing in a top-four role with power-play time, he'll have appeal in fantasy for managers who can weather his poor plus-minus.... See More ... See Less -

Giordano recorded a power-play assist, five shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. Giordano set up Jared McCann's tally in the third period. This gave Giordano nine helpers, including four on the power play, in his last 13 appearances. The defenseman hasn't had the steadiest showing on offense at times, but he's up to 20 points, 93 shots on net, 80 blocks and a minus-14 rating through 43 appearances. The 38-year-old has been rumored as a potential trade candidate, but he'll continue to log top-four minutes as long as he's in a Kraken sweater.... See More ... See Less -

In his last eight outings, Giordano has collected six assists, including three on the power play. The 38-year-old blueliner is up to 17 points (seven on the power play), 76 shots on net, 73 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating in 38 contests overall. He'll continue to play a big role, but fantasy managers will likely need him to pile up points and blocks to offset his lackluster numbers in other areas.... See More ... See Less -

Giordano logged a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Predators. Giordano set up a Jared McCann goal in the first period. The 38-year-old blueliner is up to 16 points (six on the power play), 74 shots on net, 68 blocks, 31 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 36 appearances while logging top-four minutes.... See More ... The veteran defenseman has 15 points, 71 shots on net, 66 blocks, 29 PIM and a minus-11 rating through 35 games overall. He's worth taking a look at it in fantasy since he provides solid non-scoring numbers.... See More ... See Less -

Giordano helped out on the first of Carson Soucy's two second-period goals as well as Calle Jarnkrok's game-winner in the third. The 38-year-old Giordano also fought Sharks rookie Adam Raska after Soucy delivered a hit. While offense has been a bit inconsistent lately for Giordano, he's up to 14 points, 65 shots on net, 59 blocked shots, 27 PIM and a minus-12 rating in 33 outings overall.
