  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Three-game point streak

Giordano scored in his second consecutive game in a 3-2 overtime loss to Montreal on Saturday. He wired a wrist shot from the right side of the slot just 53 seconds into the game to put the Leafs up 1-0. Giordano now has a modest three-game, three-point scoring streak (two goals, one assist).

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Two-game point streak

Giordano scored a goal Thursday in a 4-1 win over the Jets. The goal went into an empty net. Giordano was his usual steady self Thursday -- one hit, three blocks, two shots and he even added a minor penalty to the mix. The 39-year-old has a point in two straight games (one goal, one assist).

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Lends helper

Giordano recorded an assist in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Coyotes. Giordano set up an Alex Kerfoot tally in the second period. This was Giordano's fourth straight game with a helper, though his offense may not stay hot once Morgan Rielly is back to his full role as the Maple Leafs' top blueliner. There should still be some space for Giordano to be productive -- he has 12 points, 45 shots on net, 70 blocked shots, 30 hits, 31 PIM and a plus-13 rating through 36 contests this season.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Assist in two straight games

Giordano picked up an assist Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Flyers. He now has an assist in back-to-back games and three in his last five. Giordano has 10 points in 34 games this season and has been logging heavy minutes with Morgan Rielly (knee) out. He continues to perform well on the ice, but Gio's fantasy value is well into the rearview mirror.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Posts helper Tuesday

Giordano recorded an assist, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Stars. Giordano helped out on a John Tavares goal in the first period. The 39-year-old Giordano has collected three assists in his last six games as he continues to see a larger role to cover for the Maple Leafs' many missing blueliners. He's at seven points, 35 shots on goal, 56 blocked shots, 29 hits, 21 PIM and a plus-11 rating in 27 outings this season.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Redirects six shots in win

Giordano recorded six blocked shots in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Devils. Giordano's fearless ways helped the Leafs put an end to the Devils' 13-game winning streak. Unfortunately, he's not doing much for fantasy managers offensively, as his 0.6 points per 60 minutes represents a career low through 15 years of service time.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Even-strength ice time rising

Giordano logged more than 20 minutes of ice time in Monday's 3-2 loss to Arizona. The veteran blueliner hasn't hit the scoresheet much -- he has one assist, four shots and a plus-3 rating in four games. But Giordano's ice time is increasing, and he will help stabilize the blue line for a team missing Jake Muzzin (neck). That extra ice time at 5-on-5 may result in less time on the second power-play unit, though, which would likely bump down his fantasy value.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Staying with Maple Leafs

Giordano signed a two-year, $1.6 million deal with Toronto on Sunday. After spending 15 years with the Flames, Giordano suited up for Seattle and Toronto this season, totaling eight goals and 35 points while averaging 20:53 of ice time through 75 games. He took a bit of a hometown discount to stay in Toronto as he prepares to enter his age-39 season. Giordano will likely quarterback the team's second power-play unit again next year while skating in a bottom-four role.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Pending UFA wants to contend

Giordano, who picked up two points in seven playoff games and is a pending unrestricted free agent, loved his time in Toronto and wants to "be on a team that I believe can win," reports TSN.ca. Giordano hopes to play a couple more years, and the Leafs would love to have him -- but at a "hometown discount" rate given their cap issues. Giordano was a solidifying presence on the Leafs' back end upon his arrival, and with the team in a win-now window, he could be part of their future.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Slides another assist

Giordano registered an assist and three shots on goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Islanders. Giordano set up Mitch Marner's first-period tally. With a goal and five helpers in his last six games, Giordano has started to settle in nicely with the Maple Leafs. The 38-year-old defenseman has picked up 32 points, 143 shots on net, 124 blocked shots and a minus-15 rating in 69 appearances between the Leafs and the Kraken this season. He's seen a smaller role with the Maple Leafs, but their stronger offense as a team has helped revive his production.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Big three-point effort carries win

Giordano scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in a 5-4 overtime win over Ottawa on Saturday. William Nylander fed a stretch pass to Gio, who carried it into the left wing dot and then wired it short side past Anton Forsberg for the win at 3:26 of OT. Giordano played 21:29 and also finished plus-3 with three shots, two hits and two blocked shots. It was a great night for the veteran, who stabilizes the Toronto blue line with his tremendous calm and leadership.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: First goal with new team

Giordano scored his first goal with Toronto in a 7-3 win over Winnipeg on Thursday. He also picked up an assist. Giordano got the Leafs on the board at 15:03 of the first period when his shot from the left face-off dot went off two Jets' defenders and past Eric Comrie. It was Giordano's fifth game with the Leafs. He has two points.

  • Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Dealt to Maple Leafs

Seattle traded Giordano and Colin Blackwell to the Maple Leafs in exchange for two second-round draft picks and a third-round draft pick Sunday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. Giordano spent the first 15 years of his career with the Flames before he was selected by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The veteran blueliner is averaging 21:29 of ice time with 98 blocked shots and 23 points through 55 games this season. He'll provide the Maple Leafs with quality top-four minutes and will likely quarterback the team's second power-play unit. Giordano will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Scratched Wednesday

Giordano will not be in the lineup against the Lightning on Wednesday, Andy Eide of NHL.com reports. It seems Giordano is on the trading block as the team holds him out of action in order to prevent him from picking up an injury. The blueliner is in the final year of a six-year, $40.5 million contract signed back in August of 2015, making him a prime rental option for playoff teams. Wherever Giordano ends up, he should be in contention to link up with the No. 1 power-play unit and remains a top-half fantasy target.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Scores shorthanded again

Giordano scored a shorthanded goal on three shots, added two PIM and logged two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Bruins. Giordano atoned for an early penalty with a tally, as he stayed on to kill another penalty after exiting the sin bin. The 38-year-old has scored a shorthanded goal in two of the last three games. He's up to six goals, 23 points, 104 shots on net, 91 blocked shots, 42 hits, 37 PIM and a minus-20 rating in 48 outings overall.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Gets loose for shorthanded goal

Giordano scored a shorthanded goal, blocked three shots and went minus-2 in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks. Giordano joined a shorthanded rush and cashed in on a pass from Joonas Donskoi for the Kraken's second goal. February continues to be kind to Giordano, who has five points in his last eight games. The veteran defenseman now has 11 career shorthanded goals. For 2021-22, he's up to 22 points, 99 shots on net, 88 blocked shots, 35 PIM and a minus-19 rating.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Assist streak at three games

Giordano supplied an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Jets. Giordano has recorded helpers in each of the last three contests, and he's distributed 10 assists in his last 14 outings. The 38-year-old had the secondary apple on Jordan Eberle's third-period equalizer Thursday, though the Kraken fell short of forcing overtime. Giordano is up to four tallies, 17 assists, 95 shots on net, 82 blocks and a minus-16 rating in 44 contests. As long as he's playing in a top-four role with power-play time, he'll have appeal in fantasy for managers who can weather his poor plus-minus.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Slings power-play assist

Giordano recorded a power-play assist, five shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. Giordano set up Jared McCann's tally in the third period. This gave Giordano nine helpers, including four on the power play, in his last 13 appearances. The defenseman hasn't had the steadiest showing on offense at times, but he's up to 20 points, 93 shots on net, 80 blocks and a minus-14 rating through 43 appearances. The 38-year-old has been rumored as a potential trade candidate, but he'll continue to log top-four minutes as long as he's in a Kraken sweater.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Manages helper Friday

Giordano posted an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 win over the Ducks. Giordano had the secondary helper on Jordan Eberle's tally in the third period, which was the game-winner. In his last 12 games, Giordano has eight assists, 29 shots on net and 28 blocked shots, providing steady play at both ends of the ice. The 38-year-old is up to 19 points, 88 shots on net, 78 blocks, 33 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 42 appearances.

  • Kraken's Mark Giordano: Helps out on power play

Giordano notched a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers. Giordano set up Yanni Gourde's third-period equalizer, though the Rangers retook the lead 34 seconds later. In his last eight outings, Giordano has collected six assists, including three on the power play. The 38-year-old blueliner is up to 17 points (seven on the power play), 76 shots on net, 73 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating in 38 contests overall. He'll continue to play a big role, but fantasy managers will likely need him to pile up points and blocks to offset his lackluster numbers in other areas.
