Top Red Wings News

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Twelve points in last eight games

Raymond scored a goal in a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Raymond has 12 points (six goals, six assists) in his past eight games; he was held off the score sheet just once in that span. Raymond's slow start is well behind him -- he had only four assists in his first eight games, but he's now rolling at a point-per-game pace (16 games; six goals, 10 assists, 50 shots).

  • Red Wings' J.T. Compher: Four points in last four games

Compher had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Lightning.

The goal, his second this season, came on the power play. Compher has two goals, two assists and nine shots in his last four contests. The third liner has six points (two goals, four assists) and 14 shots in nine games. Compher put up 52 points with the Avs in 2022-23 and followed that up with 48 for the Wings the next season, but his production in Motown dropped to 28 points, including 11 goals, in 82 games last season. Compher doesn't offer much in peripheral categories, so he needs to be putting up a lot of points to become fantasy relevant. We're not confident that's coming anytime soon.

  • Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Takes loss in relief

Tarasov made 12 saves in relief after entering Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay to start the second period. He allowed one goal in a 4-2 loss.

John Gibson didn't return to the ice after the first intermission with what was described as a lower-body injury. There was no update on the starter's health after the game, but head coach Todd McLellan said Tarasov will be in line for extra games. The big goalie has been sharp this season. Tarasov is 2-1-2 with one shutout, a 1.74 GAA and .927 save percentage. This may be the opportunity he needs to showcase his ability.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Exits Tuesday's game

Gibson (lower body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Lightning.

Gibson gave up two goals on 11 shots while playing all of the first period. It's not immediately obvious when he sustained the injury. If he is forced to miss additional time, Daniil Tarasov will take over as the starter and the Red Wings will need to call up a goalie from AHL Grand Rapids to fill out the roster.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Defending crease Tuesday

Gibson will guard the road goal against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, per Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site.

Gibson will get the second half of Detroit's back-to-back after Daniil Tarasov played in Monday's 5-3 win over Florida. The 33-year-old Gibson has a 4-5-1 record, a 3.36 GAA and an .860 save percentage in 10 appearances this season. Tampa Bay (8-3-2) sits fifth in the league with 3.69 goals per game this campaign.

  • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Adds empty-netter Monday

Finnie scored an empty-net goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

Finnie's point streak is up to four games (three goals, one assist). The 21-year-old is handling a top-line role and doesn't really look out of place. He's up to seven goals, four assists, 35 shots on net, 18 hits and a plus-10 rating across 15 contests. Finnie's continued chemistry with Alex DeBrincat is a positive sign for both players in a post-Dylan Larkin (suspension) world.

  • Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Scores in Monday's win

DeBrincat scored a goal on four shots in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

DeBrincat ended a five-game goal drought with the tally, which put the Red Wings ahead 2-1. The winger has been one of Detroit's most consistent producers so far. He's up to seven goals, nine assists, 55 shots on net, 15 hits and a plus-10 rating over 15 appearances in a top-six role.

  • Red Wings' Carter Mazur: Lights lamp for first time in NHL

Mazur scored his first career NHL goal in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

The 24-year-old got to a dump-in from Moritz Seider that made it all the way around the boards and snapped a shot past Jacob Markstrom early in the first period. Mazur was held without a point in nine games during cups of coffee over the prior two seasons, but he's spotted on and off the fourth line to begin 2026-27 and has three points in nine contests as he looks to establish himself in a full-time role.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Dishes two assists against Florida

Seider recorded two assists in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

The star blueliner had a had in Detroit's first and last tallies of the night, setting up Carter Mazur for his first career NHL goal in the first period and then blocking a shot that caromed to Emmitt Finnie for an empty-netter late in the third. Seider has gotten onto the scoresheet in four straight games, while he's still looking for his first goal of 2026-27, he's piled up 10 assists in 15 games so far while adding 40 blocked shots, 29 shots on net, 24 hits and a minus-1 rating.

  • Red Wings' Justin Faulk: Two-point effort Monday

Faulk scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

The veteran blueliner helped set up Alex DeBrincat for a goal early in the second period before lighting the lamp himself early in the third. Faulk is on pace for another 40-point campaign, collecting three goals and eight points in 15 games so far with 20 shots on net, 17 blocked shots, 11 hits, 10 PIM and a plus-3 rating.

  • Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Two helpers against Panthers

Copp pocketed two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 5-3 win over Florida.

Both helpers came 45 seconds apart in the third period as Detroit broke open a 2-2 tie on tallies by Justin Faulk and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. The assists were his first since Oct. 4, and Copp has just two goals and five points in 15 games to begin the season, despite a current assignment on the second line with Lucas Raymond.

  • Red Wings' Michael Brandsegg-Nygard: Two points including game-winner Monday

Brandsegg-Nygard scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 5-3 victory over Florida.

The 21-year-old winger snapped a four-game point drought with a big shift in the third period, helping to set up Justin Faulk for a goal that broke a 2-2 tie before Brandsegg-Nygard potted what proved to be the GWG just 45 seconds later. Brandsegg-Nygard is off to a strong start to his first full NHL campaign, delivering three goals and 10 points in 15 games while skating in a top-six role, and he recorded a couple career firsts Monday with his game-winner and his power-play point.

  • Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Picks up win in return to crease

Tarasov made 23 saves in Monday's 5-3 win over the Panthers.

Seeing his first action since Oct. 20 after recovering from an undisclosed injury, Tarasov gave up a goal in each period but got powered to a victory over the team he played for in 2025-26 when the Red Wings struck three times in the third. The 27-year-old netminder has yet to take a regulation loss this season, going 2-0-2 in five appearances with a 1.75 GAA and .927 save percentage, and if Tarasov can stay healthy and effective, he could push John Gibson (3.36 GAA, .860 save percentage in 10 outings) for the top job in the Detroit crease.

  • Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Starting against Panthers

Tarasov will defend the road net against Florida on Monday, per George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.

Tarasov owns a 1-0-2 record, a 1.40 GAA and a .940 save percentage in four appearances this campaign. The 27-year-old netminder will get the nod against his former team. He went 13-15-3 with a 3.05 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 33 appearances for the Panthers during the 2025-26 regular season. In 2026-27, Florida (8-4-2) is tied for 16th in the league with 3.14 goals per game.

  • Red Wings' Carter Bear: Posts three points for Griffins

Bear scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Grand Rapids' 5-1 win over Chicago on Sunday.

An upper-body injury kept Bear out of action at the start of the season, but he's taken little time to adjust to the AHL. The 19-year-old is at three goals, six assists and 21 shots on net over nine contests to begin his rookie year in Grand Rapids. He's an early success story for the rule change that allows first-round picks to play in the AHL at age 19. Bear was selected 13th overall in 2025, and if he keeps thriving with the Griffins this year, it may not be long before he's wearing the winged wheel in Detroit.
