2016 Big 12 preseason poll: Oklahoma runs away with No. 1, Texas has work to do
The Oklahoma Sooners received 24 of 26 first-place votes in the pre-season Big 12 Media Poll
Members of the Big 12 media don't seem to believe the Big 12 race will be very interesting this year.
The annual preseason Big 12 media poll was released on Thursday, and the Oklahoma Sooners ran away with it. The Sooners received 24 of the 26 first-place votes with TCU being the only other team to finish atop anybody else's ballot.
Here are the final results of the poll.
1. Oklahoma (24 first-place votes)
2. TCU (2)
3. Oklahoma State
4. Baylor
5. Texas
6. Texas Tech
7. West Virginia
8. Kansas State
9. Iowa State
10. Kansas
While I didn't cast a vote, if I did, I have to believe the hardest team to figure out would have been Baylor. You have no idea how that team is going to react to everything that's happened this summer, including losing coach Art Briles, but you know there's still a lot of talent left on the roster, so you don't want to knock the Bears down too far.
And then there's Texas.
Even when I understand why, I always do a bit of a double-take when I see the Longhorns selected to finish outside the top three, let alone top four.
