  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Active in Week 11

Edwards-Helaire (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Edwards-Helaire was activated from injured reserve Saturday after a stint that led to a total of five absences, and the second-year back officially will make his return to game action Sunday. How much work Edwards-Helaire splits with Darrel Williams remains to be seen, however, considering the Chiefs may opt to ease CEH back into action after a relatively long layoff and also keep the latter involved after he performed well as both a runner and receiver over multiple games in recent weeks.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Scores in return to action

Edwards-Helaire carried the ball 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 19-9 win over the Cowboys.

It was a productive return from a five-game absence for the second-year RB, who reclaimed the starting role from Darrel Williams and scored his first rushing TD of the season on a one-yard plunge in the second quarter. Edwards-Helaire has had a tough season to date, but he still has time to post some big numbers on the other side of Kansas City's Week 12 bye.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Activated, listed as questionable

Edwards-Helaire (knee) was activated from IR on Saturday. He's now listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

While Edwards-Helaire's questionable tag will make his status worth monitoring, he's expected to play, as the Chiefs would not have activated him if they didn't intend to use him Sunday. According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Edwards-Helaire is expected to start against Dallas, but Darrel Williams will continue to have a role in the offense.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Could be back Week 11

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid didn't commit to Edwards-Helaire (knee) making his return from injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, but he suggested the running back was trending toward being available for the contest, Charles Goldman of USA Today reports. "Yeah, I'll get with [Chiefs athletic trainer Rick Burkholder] here and just make sure that everything is OK," Reid said Friday. "We'll go from there, but [Edwards-Helaire] had a good week of practice."

Edwards-Helaire was practicing with the team for the second straight week, after the Chiefs initially designated him for return from IR on Nov. 10. The second-year back looks to be making good progress in his recovery from an MCL sprain of his left knee, but he won't be an option to play Sunday until the Chiefs activate him from IR prior to Saturday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for Week 11 roster moves. Though Edwards-Helaire served as Kansas City's lead back before suffering the knee injury Week 5, he could find himself as part of a timeshare at the position with Darrel Williams upon rejoining the 53-man roster.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Week 11 status uncertain

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that the team wants to see how Edwards-Helaire (knee) performs in practice this week before making a decision on whether to activate the running back from injured reserve prior to Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.

Though Edwards-Helaire is clearly trending in the right direction, Reid acknowledges that there's a chance the Chiefs could hold the running back out for another game, with the team's upcoming Week 12 bye in mind. If that ends up being the case, Darrel Williams would continue to head Kansas City's backfield Week 11, with Jerick McKinnon and Derrick Gore available for complementary work.
