Damien Martinez: Signs with Green Bay
The Packers signed Martinez to the practice squad Tuesday.
With MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) on injured reserve, it seems the Packers would like to bolster their running back room before the upcoming playoff run. The rookie seventh-rounder was waived by the Seahawks at the end of the preseason and has not yet seen action in an NFL regular-season game. Lloyd will be a candidate for elevation if Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson or Chris Brooks were to suffer an injury in the coming weeks.

Damien Martinez: Released from practice squad
Martinez was released from the Seahawks' practice squad Friday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
The Seahawks waived Martinez at the end of the preseason, and he'd been on the practice squad since. He's likely to find an opportunity elsewhere around the league, or he could be re-signed by Seattle if the team shuffles its practice squad roster.

Damien Martinez: Re-ups with practice squad
The Seahawks re-signed Martinez to the practice squad Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
The rookie seventh-round pick is back with Seattle's practice squad one day after having been cut from the unit. Martinez is competing to hold onto an emergency depth role at running back for the 2025 season.

Damien Martinez: Cut by Seattle
The Seahawks cut Martinez from their practice squad Tuesday.
The seventh-round rookie out of Miami failed to make Seattle's 53-man roster out of training camp this summer but was quickly brought back via the practice squad last week. Martinez logged 67 offensive snaps during the preseason, producing a 24-84-1 rushing line.

Damien Martinez: Sticks on Seahawks' practice squad
Martinez signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.
Martinez was highly touted even as a seventh-round pick due to a productive collegiate career during which he rushed for 2,187 yards (6.2 YPC) and 19 touchdowns over his final two seasons. However, the Miami product had an underwhelming preseason with just 84 yards on 24 carries (3.5 YPC) and was clearly outplayed by second-year back George Holani, who earned a spot on the active roster. Martinez is still just 21 years old and will have time to develop in a system that's favorable to running backs. If one of Holani, Kenneth Walker or Zach Charbonnet gets injured, either Martinez or Jacardia Wright will likely be brought up from the practice squad.

Damien Martinez: Waived by Seahawks
Seattle waived Martinez on Tuesday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Martinez won't stick around on the 53-man roster, in part due to the Seahawks' crowded backfield. The rookie seventh-round pick seems a solid candidate to resurface on the practice squad and continue his development with the team, should he go unclaimed on waivers.

Seahawks' Damien Martinez: Seven carries in preseason finale
Martinez rushed the ball seven times for 24 yards in Seattle's 20-7 preseason loss to the Packers on Saturday. He added two receptions on two targets for 14 yards.
The Seahawks rested all of their starters and many of their top backups as well. That gave Martinez the chance to start, though it also made clear that he is fourth on the depth chart at best. That could put him on the roster bubble as cutdown day nears.

Seahawks' Damien Martinez: Scores in preseason win
Martinez rushed 11 times for 50 yards and a score in Friday's 33-16 preseason win over the Chiefs. He also caught two passes for 14 yards.
Martinez was the third running back in the pecking order after Zach Charbonnet and George Holani -- who rushed five times for 49 yards. Kenneth Walker rested once again. Martinez broke off a 19-yard run in the first quarter and scored in the third quarter before taking the rest of the night off. At this time, the rookie seventh-round pick is on track to make the roster as the No. 4 running back.

Seahawks' Damien Martinez: Outplayed by Holani
Martinez rushed six times for 10 yards and caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Thursday's 23-23 preseason tie against the Raiders. He also totaled 25 yards on two kickoff returns.
Martinez was the second running back into the game after George Holani, who had 81 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on eight touches. Holani has the early lead in the competition for the third spot on Seattle's running back depth chart behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, and the gap between him and Martinez likely grew Thursday. Martinez will try to make up some ground in the next preseason game against the Chiefs on Aug. 15.

Seahawks' Damien Martinez: Seeking No. 3 role
Martinez is competing for the No. 3 running back role after Kenny McIntosh suffered a torn ACL on Monday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
A seventh-round rookie, Martinez had a chance to push McIntosh for the role anyway, and now he's now competing for the role with George Holani, Jacardia Wright and D.K. Kaufman. Martinez entered the NFL after three standout college seasons where he compiled 3,169 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground across three seasons between Miami and Oregon State. With Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet healthy to start training camp, there are limited offensive reps available, but Martinez could carve out a role as a pass catcher, something he showed modest improvement on as a junior with 17 catches (22 targets) for 204 yards through 13 games.
