Luke Lachey: Casualty of cutdown day
The Texans waived Lachey on Tuesday.
Houston selected Lachey in the seventh round of April's NFL Draft, and he caught five of six targets for 21 yards over three preseason games. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Lachey will likely land on the Texans' practice squad if he clears waivers.

Texans' Luke Lachey: Nabbed by Texans in seventh round
The Texans selected Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 255th overall.
Lachey racked up 28 catches in two different seasons (2022 and 2024) at Iowa, adding 231 receiving yards last season. Sandwiched in the middle was a significant ankle injury in 2023 that cost him all but three games. He managed only 8.3 yards per reception in 2024 after averaging at least 13.1 yards per catch in each of the three years prior. Lachey doesn't possess elite speed to stretch the field but should be serviceable as a run blocker if called upon and will try to claim a 53-man roster spot in camp.
