The Angels selected Phillips' contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Phillips was outrighted to Salt Lake in May after being designated for assignment by the Angels, but he'll receive another chance in the big leagues late in the season. The 29-year-old is likely to work as a reserve outfielder and defensive replacement given his career .616 OPS in the big leagues.
