Phillips was designated for assignment by the Angels on Saturday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Phillips gets the boot to make room for Jared Walsh, with Walsh coming off the injured list before Saturday's game against the Twins. Phillips could see interest from a team looking for outfield depth, but if he goes unclaimed he will likely report to Triple-A Salt Lake to provide that depth for the Angels in the minors.
