The Cardinals promoted Plummer from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

St. Louis determined Plummer was ready for a tougher test after he smacked two home runs Sunday in his final game at Double-A, bringing his slash line up to .283/.404/.489 across 376 plate appearances with Springfield on the season. The 25-year-old outfielder boasts an intriguing combination of power and on-base skills, but his ability to cut down his strikeout rate (28.7 percent at Double-A) will be essentially to him finding consistent success at Triple-A, and eventually, the majors.
