Giants' Jae-Gyun Hwang: Designated for assignment

The Giants designated Hwang for assignment Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Now that he's been removed from the 40-man roster, Hwang will not be joining the Giants' callups as rosters expand. The Triple-A season ends in the next few days, with Hwang holding a .287/.334/.458 line, 10 home runs and seven stolen bases through 380 plate appearances. His major-league future with the Giants remains in doubt.
