Baron signed a minor-league deal with the Indians on Friday and was added to the 60-player pool.
Baron appeared in seven games for the Pirates last season but spent most of the year at Triple-A Indianapolis, where he posted a .512 OPS over 45 games. The 29-year-old brings catching depth to the 60-man pool, though he's unlikely to be much of a factor in the majors.
