The Mariners acquire Arozarena from the Rays on Friday in exchange for outfielder Aidan Smith, right-hander Brody Hopkins and a player to be named later, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Arozarena should provide a significant lift to a Mariners lineup that has struggled all season and is currently plagued by injuries. While his .712 OPS in 2024 still lags behind his mark from past seasons, Arozarena has hit .290 with seven home runs, 17 RBI, 20 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 43 games since June 1. He'll remain a centerpiece of Seattle's offense through at least the 2026 season, after which he'll be eligible for free agency.
