The Mets and Taylor (abdomen/elbow) avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Thursday.
Taylor had been eligible for salary arbitration for the second time. The outfielder had hernia surgery and surgery to remove a loose body from his elbow earlier this offseason but is expected to be ready in time for Opening Day. He's tentatively penciled in as the Mets' fourth outfielder.
