Manager Brandon Hyde said that McCann likely sustained a broken nose in the Orioles' 11-5 win over the Blue Jays in the first game of Monday's doubleheader, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
McCann was hit in the face by a fastball from Yariel Rodriguez in the bottom of the first inning. Despite bleeding profusely, McCann took his base and stayed in for the duration of the game, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored. He will go for a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis, and the 34-year-old backstop could end landing on the injured list if he did in fact suffer a fracture.
