Padres' Miguel Diaz: Removed from 40-man roster

Diaz cleared waivers and was outrighted off the Padres' 40-man roster Friday.

Diaz isn't a high-leverage arm, but he's decent enough and young enough (26) that it's perhaps a surprise to see him pass through waivers unclaimed. In 42 major-league innings this season, he posted a 3.64 ERA, striking out 26.7 percent of opposing batters while walking 11.0 percent.
