Hughes announced his retirement Sunday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Hughes hasn't played since August of 2018, and he officially brought his career to an end Sunday. The right-hander spent 12 seasons in the majors with the Yankees, Twins and Padres, posting a 4.52 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 1,040 strikeouts over 290 appearances.
